Checking solenoids

- Ignition on
- Activate the solenoids by clicking on the symbol for VCT2000.
Select a solenoid and read off the current through the solenoid's circuit. The current should shift between approx. 0 and 1000 mA.

Is the function OK?

Yes - Checking oil quality and oil level in transmission

No - Checking the wiring and component

-------------------------------------------------

Checking oil quality and oil level in transmission

Note! The transmission oil's quality and level are extremely important for the function of the transmission. Therefore it is important that these values are correct. In addition, the oil level is dependent on oil temperature.

- Ignition on
- Read off the oil's temperature.
Check the transmission's oil level. If it is low, check the transmission for leaks and then top off the oil.
Check the oil's quality.
If the oil smells burnt, change transmission oil.

Select an alternative below
1. No defect found.
2. Transmission oil changed, level low or quality poor.

1 - Checking the wiring and component

2 - Resetting adaptation and the fluid quality counter

-------------------------------------------------

Checking the wiring and component

- Ignition off
- Open the gearbox control system
Check connector B (22-pin) for the transmission control module (TCM). Check for damaged or pressed in pins. Check for contact resistance and oxidation.

Hint: Check solenoid SLT, SLC1, SLC2, SLC3 and SLB1 according to: Checking internal components of the transmission Checking Internal Components of the Transmission

If no defects were found on connectors or cables, replace the control system. If this does not help, replace transmission.
Remedy as necessary.

Resetting adaptation and the fluid quality counter

Resetting adaptation

Resetting adaptation and counter for "Transmission oil, changing"

Hint: The transmission has torque-controlled, adaptive pressure control. The pressure control means that the transmission itself controls the pressure during each shift sequence in order to avoid harsh shifting. Each shift is assessed by the transmission control module (TCM) and is stored in the internal memory, which results in compensation for wear in the transmission and clutch. In order for the transmission to function correctly after repair, it is important to reset the adaptation in the memory. Since the oil is changed during the repair, the counter for "Transmission oil, change" shall also be reset. If the counter is not reset when draining/changing oil, there is a risk that a diagnostic trouble code may be generated under incorrect conditions.

Note! This applies only if the transmission or one of the components in the transmission have been replaced.

- Ignition on
Activate reset of the adaptation and the counter by clicking on the symbol for VCT2000.

Verification

Note! When the transmission's control module has been removed and reinstalled, it is important that the gear position sensor is calibrated. Select vehicle communication and calibrate gear position sensor.

Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied.

- Ignition off
- Reinstall the components, reconnect the connectors etc.
Test drive the vehicle following: Test drive schedule, description Test Drive Schedule, Description
Check that the transmission does not display any obvious function faults.

Note! When test driving, the oil temperature must be above 20 °C.
