Information about symptom fault-tracing
The diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) are included in a larger fault-tracing for the symptom Starter motor not running.
Add the symptom and fault trace according to Checking the start system.
If this has already been carried out, continue fault tracing.
Do you want to continue with this procedure?
Yes - Checking the status
No - Exit fault-tracing
-------------------------------------------------
Checking the status
- Click on the VCT2000 symbol.
- Remove the key from the ignition switch.
The status of the steering column lock must be changed to locked.
- Insert the key in the ignition switch.
The status of the steering column lock must be changed to unlocked.
If read-out status is not okay or is invalid, the control module needs to be replaced.
Is the status OK?
Yes - Checking the power supply
No - Replacing the Steering Column Lock Module (SCL)
-------------------------------------------------
Checking the power supply
- Ignition off.
Hint: The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) can be stored if the power supply in the central electronic module (CEM) has been below 8 V for a certain time.
Check the battery voltage. The battery voltage must be approximately 12 V.
Check all power supply connections to the central electronic module (CEM) from the engine compartment fusebox.
Check the wiring. Check for intermittent open-circuits and short-circuits to ground.
