Front Door: Service and Repair

Side door front, replacing

Removing the front side door





Remove:
- the cover from the door mirror
- the interior handle. See Handle inner front side door, replacing Handle Inner Front Side Door, Replacing
- the door panel. See Panel front side door, replacing Service and Repair
- the side window. See Window front side door, replace Service and Repair
- the window lift mechanism. See Window lift mechanism front side door, replacing Service and Repair
- the loudspeakers. See Loudspeaker, front side door, replacing Loudspeaker, Front Side Door, Replacing
- the lock mechanism. See Lock mechanism front side door, replacing Lock Mechanism Front Side Door, Replacing
- the exterior handle. See Handle outer front side door, replacing Service and Repair
- the door mirror. See Rear view mirror, replacing Rear View Mirror, Replacing
- the cable harness in the door
- the rubber and trim strips
- the door stop. See Door stop front side door, replacing Service and Repair.

Hint: Check whether there are any spacers (1) between the door and the hinge. Make a note of how many there are.

Remove the 4 screws (2) holding the door at the front edge. Then remove the upper screw and lower the door.

Installing the front side door




Install the door using only the upper screw but without tightening it.
Then install the other screws.
If spacers were installed, install them in the same place they were removed from.
Install the screws following the old color marking so that the door is roughly aligned.

Install:
- the cable harness in the door
- the lock mechanism. See Lock mechanism front side door, replacing Lock Mechanism Front Side Door, Replacing
- the loudspeakers. See Loudspeaker, front side door, replacing Loudspeaker, Front Side Door, Replacing
- the window lift mechanism. See Window lift mechanism front side door, replacing Service and Repair
- the side window. See Window front side door, replace Service and Repair
- the interior handle. See Handle inner front side door, replacing Handle Inner Front Side Door, Replacing.
Place seal lips over the holes in the door.

Install:
- the door stop. See Door stop front side door, replacing Service and Repair
- the door mirror. See Rear view mirror, replacing Rear View Mirror, Replacing
- the exterior handle. See Handle outer front side door, replacing Service and Repair
- the door panel. See Panel front side door, replacing Service and Repair
- the cover from the door mirror
- the rubber and trim strips.
Adjust the door.
Tighten the 4 M8 screws at the front edge of the door.
