Latch, replacing

Preparatory work

Removing the printed circuit board / top panel and solenoid

Remove:
- the printed circuit board / top panel. See: Printed circuit board gear selector assembly, B5254T7, AW55-50/51SN Printed Circuit Board Gear Selector Assembly
- the solenoid. See: Solenoid gear selector assembly, B5254T7, AW55-50/51SN Solenoid Gear Selector Assembly.

Removal

Removing the latches




Remove the locking washer. Pull out the shaft.




Lift out the guard over the transmission side piece. Place the lever in the Geartronic position.
Press down the spring for the lower latch using a screwdriver.
Remove the lower latch forwards.

Note! The spring can come off.




Turn the front and rear latches as far as possible. Lift the latches straight up.

Installation

Note! For tightening torques, see Specifications. Tightening Torque.

Installing the latches




Position the latches. Turn the latches to their normal position.




Press down the spring for the lower latch using a screwdriver.
Install the lower latch.

Note! Check carefully that the spring is correctly located on the latch.

Install the guard over the transmission side piece.




Install the shaft for the lower latch. Lock the shaft in place using the locking washer.
Check the mechanical function of the gear selector.

Note! Manually lift the latches where the solenoid normally grips.

Finishing

Installing the solenoid and printed circuit board / top panel

Install:
- the solenoid. See: Solenoid gear selector assembly, B5254T7, AW55-50/51SN Solenoid Gear Selector Assembly
- the printed circuit board / top panel. See: Printed circuit board gear selector assembly, B5254T7, AW55-50/51SN Printed Circuit Board Gear Selector Assembly.
