Steering wheel control module

Note! Some variation in the illustrations may occur, but the essential information is always correct.
Preparatory work
Important information
Caution! When a contract reel / steering wheel module (SWM) is removed and the same contract reel / steering wheel module is then reinstalled, the contact reel does not need to be reset. Software does not need to be downloaded either. The above only applies on the condition that the contact reel is fused while the work is being carried out. See: Steering wheel Service and Repair.
Caution! Ensure that the front wheels and the steering wheel module (SWM) are in the same position when removing as when installing, i.e. pointing straight ahead.
Removing the battery leads, steering wheel and steering column covers
Ignition off.
Disconnect the battery negative cable. Battery Disconnecting
Remove:
- the steering wheel as described in Steering wheel Service and Repair
- the steering column covers. See: Panel steering column Panel Steering Column.
Removal
Removing the contact reel/Steering wheel module (SWM)
Note! Check that the contact reel is fused.
Remove:
- wiper / washer switch with the screws (1), x 2
- the turn signal lamp switch with the screws (2), x 2.
Caution! The pins on the wiper and turn signal lamp switch are fragile. Carefully pull straight out.
Remove:
- the 2 screws (1)
- the contact reel / steering wheel module (SWM) by releasing the catch (2) on the top.
Pull the contact reel / steering wheel module (SWM) back slightly.
Disconnect the connectors, x 2.
Installation
Installing the contact reel/Steering wheel module (SWM)
Install the contact reel/Steering wheel module (SWM).
Note! Check carefully that the catch engages in the top of the contact reel / steering wheel module (SWM).
Install the upper mounting using the 2 x M5 screws. Tighten. See: Tightening torque. [1][2]Body and Frame
Caution! The pins on the wiper and turn signal lamp switch are fragile. Press the wiper/turn signal lamp switch into the connectors carefully. Check that the pins engage correctly in the connectors.
Install:
- wiper / washer switch with the screws, x 2. Tighten
- the turn signal lamp switch with the screws, x 2. Tighten
- the connectors, x2
- the steering column covers. See: Panel steering column Panel Steering Column.
Reset the contact roller. Adjustments
Install the steering wheel. Service and Repair
