Tailgate, replacing

Tailgate upper, replacing

Removing the upper tailgate





Remove:
- the stop lamp
- the panel. See Panel, tailgate, replacing
- the wiper motor. See Motor windshield wiper, replacing Motor Windshield Wiper, Replacing
- the lock mechanism. See Lock mechanism, tailgate, replacing Service and Repair
- the cable harness
- the window. See Tailgate windshield, replacing Service and Repair
- the gas struts (3).
Remove the cover at the screws (4).

Transfer:
- the rubber strip
- the mounting clips
- the stops.

Installing the upper tailgate

Note! For tightening torques, see Specifications [1][2]Body and Frame.

Install:
- the tailgate. Adjust approximately by screwing the tailgate into the hinges in the same places as prior to removal
- the cable harness
- the lock mechanism. See Lock mechanism, tailgate, replacing Service and Repair.
Check that the tailgate can be opened and closed.
Install the window. See Tailgate windshield, replacing Service and Repair.
Adjust the tailgate.
Tighten the 4 M6 screws (4).

Install:
- the gas struts
- the wiper motor. See Motor windshield wiper, replacing Motor Windshield Wiper, Replacing
- the panel. See Panel, tailgate, replacing
- the stop lamp.

Tailgate lower, replacing

Removing the lower tailgate




Place a soft cover as protection on the bumper.





Remove:
- the panel. See Panel, tailgate, replacing
- the lock mechanism. See Lock mechanism, tailgate, replacing Service and Repair
- the control arms (1) from the tailgate
- the screws (2) in the front edge. Lower the tailgate.

Installing the lower tailgate

Note! For tightening torques, see Specifications [1][2]Body and Frame.

Install:
- the tailgate. Adjust approximately by screwing the tailgate into the hinges in the same places as prior to removal
- the lock mechanism. See Lock mechanism, tailgate, replacing Service and Repair.
Adjust the tailgate.
Tighten the 4 M8 screws.

Install:
- the control arms
- the panel. See Panel, tailgate, replacing .
