Lock mechanism, tailgate, replacing

As the illustrations in this service information are used for different model years and/or models, some variation may occur. However, the essential information in the illustrations is always correct.

Included in this method are methods for:
- the lock mechanism in the upper tailgate. See replacing
- the lock mechanism in the lower tailgate. See replacing.

Removing the lock mechanism for the upper tailgate




Remove the panel. See Panel, tailgate, replacing .

Remove:
- the connector
- the mechanical cable for the inner opening handle
- the mechanical cable for the external opening handle.
Remove the 3 screws.
Angle out the lock mechanism.

Installing the lock mechanism for the upper tailgate

Note! For tightening torques, see Specifications [1][2]Body and Frame.

Install:
- the lock mechanism
- the 3 M8 screws. Tighten
- the mechanical cable for the outer opening handle
- the mechanical cable for the inner opening handle
- the connector
- the panel. See Panel, tailgate, replacing .

Removing the lock mechanism for the lower tailgate





Remove:
- the panel. See Panel, tailgate, replacing
- the 6 screws (3 screws per lock)
- the lock
- the cable.

Installing the lock mechanism for the lower tailgate

Note! For tightening torques, see Specifications [1][2]Body and Frame.

Install:
- the cable
- the lock
- the 6 M8 screws. Tighten
- the panel. See Panel, tailgate, replacing .
