Signal Missing - Permanent Fault






Signal missing. Permanent fault

Checking the connector








- Ignition off.
- Check the canister valve's connector for contact resistance and oxidation according to: Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault
- Restore components and connectors.
- Ignition on.
- Activate the canister valve.
A "click" sound must be heard when the canister valve is activated.
If the canister valve now is OK, this indicates that the problem has been caused by poor contact in the connector.

Does the canister valve work?

Yes - Fault Found

No - Checking the components and wiring

Checking the components and wiring
Check the canister valve's resistance.
Check the signal cable between control module #B40 (#B50) and canister valve, connection 2, and voltage supply between system relay, connection 3, and canister valve, connection 1, for open circuit: Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault
Remedy as necessary.

Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied.








- Ignition off.
- Reconnect connectors, reinstall components.
- Ignition on.
- Activate EVAP canister shut-off valve.
A "click" should be heard when the EVAP canister shut-off valve is activated.
