- Ignition off.
- Control unit disconnected.
- Switch off all battery loads such as entrance lights and radio.
Connect an ohmmeter between the battery negative terminal and #3 on the test box.
The ohmmeter should display approximately 0(.
OK - Return to trouble-shooting if there is an open circuit.
No Fault Found
Not OK - contact resistance and oxidation
-------------------------------------------------
Checking for open circuits, contact resistance and oxidation
Check the heater's ground point and wires connected to it for an open circuit as described in Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault , and for contact resistance and oxidation as described in Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Select Continue when the fault has been rectified.

Checking the supply circuit
- Ignition off
- Remove the heater. See Engine coolant heater, replacing Engine Coolant Heater, Replacing.
Check circuit between control module #11 and the components which are connected to the supply circuit (water pump terminal 2, fuel pump (FP) terminal 2 and combustion fan supply terminal). Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage.
Remedy as necessary.
Other information:
