Question
Question
Does the car have a DSTC system?
Yes - DSTC
No - STC

STC - Checking the operation of the pump motor
DSTC - DSTC
-------------------------------------------------
Checking the operation of the pump motor
- Ignition off.
- Check the control module and pump motor connectors for contact resistance and oxidation according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
- Reconnect the components, connectors etc.
- Ignition on.
- Activate the pump motor.
Check that the pump motor starts and operates normally.
If the pump motor starts and seems to operate normally, the cause of the fault was contact resistance and oxidation in the control module or pump motor connectors.
Other information:
- To disconnect the control module and pump motor, see Control module (ABS), replacing Brake Control Module (BCM), Replacing.
Is the pump OK?
Yes - Fault Found
No - Checking the wiring and component
-------------------------------------------------
Checking the wiring and component
Check the wiring between control module terminal #25 and the battery. Check for a open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault. Check for a short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Check that fuse 4 in the integrated relay / fusebox in the engine compartment is intact. If the fuse is blown, check the cable between the fuse and control module terminal #25 for a short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault and then replace the fuse.
Remedy as necessary.
Other information:
- To connect the breakout box, see Connecting the ABS breakout box Pinout Values and Diagnostic Parameters.
Was a fault detected?
Yes - Verification
No - Checking the pump motor circuit
-------------------------------------------------
Checking the pump motor circuit
- Ignition off.
- Connect an ohmmeter between pump motor connector terminal #2 and ground.
The ohmmeter should read infinite resistance.
Was the resistance OK?
OK - Checking the pump motor
Not OK - Checking for a short-circuit and replacing the component
-------------------------------------------------
Checking for a short-circuit and replacing the component
Check the cable between the pump motor and the pump motor connector for a short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
If the cable is OK, try a new hydraulic unit. Hydraulic unit, replacing Service and Repair
Select Continue when the fault has been remedied.
Continue - Verification
-------------------------------------------------
Checking the pump motor
Temporarily connect an unfused cable between the pump motor connector:
- terminal #2 and the battery positive terminal
- terminal #1 and the battery negative terminal.
The motor should start when the cable is connected to the battery. Run for a maximum of 10 seconds.
Remove the temporarily connected cables.
Is the pump OK?
Yes - Checking the pump motor
No - Checking for an open-circuit in the cable
-------------------------------------------------
