Panel and SRS passenger airbag module

Preparations

Ignition off and disconnect the battery negative lead




Check that the customer has provided the radio code.

Warning! Before assembly, the ignition must be in position II. Then reconnect the battery negative lead. Ensure that nobody is in the car when the battery is being connected.

4 Torx 20 screws.

SRS ignition cable





Warning! The battery must not be connected when the SRS ignition cable connector is being removed or installed.

Warning! Under no circumstances use an ohmmeter or other live measuring instrument to take readings on a disconnected, non-deployed airbag module. This could deploy the airbag.

SRS-airbag screws




3 M6, 10 mm screws.
When installing, tighten to 10 Nm .

Ventilation and loudspeaker grilles




Remove the ventilation grilles: Pull the mounting bracket behind the grille with a hook.

Panel screws




11 Torx 20 screws.

Caution! If the panel with a non-deployed passenger airbag module is removed temporarily, it should be placed with the top facing upwards in a protected place.

Remove the climate control system: First remove the stereo. Then press out the climate control system from the inside.

SRS airbag





Warning! Under no circumstances use an ohmmeter or other live measuring instrument to take readings on a disconnected, non-deployed airbag module. This could deploy the airbag.

Caution! Remove only the screws and nuts illustrated.

Warning! The passenger airbag module must never be taken apart, repaired or moved to another vehicle. For information about handling replaced modules, see Handling replaced SRS airbags/seat belt tensioners Handling Replaced SRS Airbags/Seat Belt Tensioners.

6 M6, 10 mm nuts.
When installing, tighten to 10 Nm .

Replacing seals

Installing seals on dashboard frame




Remove backing.
Press the seal into place with the lug towards the combined instrument panel.










Removing the old seals from the panel
Remove the old seals from the dashboard panel.

Installation

Assemble in reverse order
Then continue with finishing.

Warning! The ignition must be in position II during installation. Then reconnect the battery negative lead. Ensure that nobody is in the car when the battery is being connected.

Completion

SRS Airbag date decal





Note! Do not forget to replace the steering wheel module decal on the driver's side B-post with a new decal.

The date decal is supplied with the new passenger airbag module.

Ignition in position II. Reconnect the battery negative lead





Warning! Before assembly, the ignition must be in position II. Then reconnect the battery negative lead. Ensure that nobody is in the car when the battery is being connected.

Check
Check that the SRS indicator lamp in the combined instrument panel is not constantly lit.

Note! Check that the SRS indicator lamp is not defective: Turn the key to position II. The SRS indicator lamp must light and go out after approximately 15 seconds.
