Removal and Replacement






Replacing the heat exchanger

Special tools:
115 8957 HOSE PLIERS 115 8957 Hose Pliers

Before starting work on the heat exchanger

Note! When replacing a heat exchanger, always replace the O-rings in the pipes.

Removal





Work in the engine compartment
- Clamp the heating hoses. Use lock grip pliers 115 8957 HOSE PLIERS 115 8957 Hose Pliers.

Work in the passenger compartment
- Remove the soundproofing panel on the left and right-hand sides. See Dashboard Dashboard and Dashboard Dashboard
- Remove left and right-hand side carpet mountings
- Remove the RTI or amplifier bracket if applicable
- Remove the knee bolster if applicable.





- Detach the drain hose and push it to one side
- Remove the screws on left and right-hand sides of the cover for the heat exchanger
- Remove the screw for the pipe flange for the heat exchanger.

Note! Place plenty of absorbent paper under and around the pipe flange.

- Remove the heat exchanger and its cover
- Remove the heat exchanger the cover.

Installation

Work in the passenger compartment
- First read Before starting work on the heat exchanger
- Install the heat exchanger in the cover.

Note! Check the seal when installing.

- Install the heat exchanger and the cover. Align the pipes in the flange
- Install the screw in the pipe flange on the heat exchanger
- Install the drain hose.

Work in the engine compartment
- Remove the lock grip pliers 115 8957 HOSE PLIERS 115 8957 Hose Pliers from the hoses
- Top up the coolant
- Test for leaks.

Work in the passenger compartment
- Install the bracket for the RTI or amplifier if applicable
- Install the knee bolster if necessary
- Install the left and right side carpet mountings
- Install the left and right-hand side soundproofing panels. See Interior, exterior Dashboard Dashboard and Interior, exterior Dashboard Dashboard.
