Replacing the control module, old system
Preparations
- The customer stored settings should be read off and noted before the control module is replaced. This is so that the new control module can be programmed in the same way as the old one.
Removing the control module
Remove (on the driver's side):
- the soundproofing panel. See Dashboard. Dashboard
- the carpet bracket.
- the screw holding the bracket on the heating unit
- the screw holding the bracket on the tunnel.
Remove (on passenger side):
- the glove compartment. See Panel and SRS passenger airbag module Panel and SRS Passenger Airbag Module
- the soundproofing panel. See Dashboard Dashboard
- the carpet brace
- the two screws holding the control module on the bracket
- the screw holding the bracket on the tunnel.
- position the bracket with the control module towards the tunnel. Lift up the control module at an angle
- the control module on the bracket
- disconnect the connectors.
Installing the control module
Install (on the passenger side):
- connect the connectors
- the control module on the bracket
- insert the control module at an angle. Position the bracket against the tunnel
Note! Ensure that locking tab on the control module face goes into the groove on the bracket.
- the screw holding the bracket on the tunnel
- the two screws holding the control module on the bracket
- the carpet brace
- the soundproofing panel. See Dashboard Dashboard
- the glove compartment. See Panel and SRS passenger airbag module Panel and SRS Passenger Airbag Module
Install (on the driver's side):
- the screw holding the bracket on the tunnel
- the screw holding the bracket on the heating unit.
- the carpet brace
- the soundproofing panel. See Dashboard Dashboard
Finishing
- Check that the system appears to be working normally
- Check that no diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) have been stored during the repair
- If possible, allow the car to stand outside with the engine switched on and idling for approximately 15 minutes. This so that the control module can store the current position via the GPS system. When the control module has been stored the current position, it is shown on the display (if a CD-ROM disc with map information is in place).
