Fuel Delivery Unit and Fuel Level Sensor






Fuel Delivery Unit and Fuel Level Sensor

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Wrench (T10202)

Torque Wrench (5-50 Nm) (V.A.G 1332)

Requirements

The fuel tank must be empty. Refer to => [ Fuel Tank, Draining ] Procedures.

Connectors and wires for the left and right flanges have been removed.

The lock rings for the right and left flanges have been removed.

- Read the safety precautions before starting. Refer to => [ Safety Precautions ] Safety Precautions.

- Follow the guidelines for cleanliness. Refer to => [ Clean Working Conditions ] Clean Working Conditions.

Removing

- Lift the right flange.

- Disconnect the fuel pump connector - 1 - from the flange.






- Disconnect the fuel level sensor connector - 2 - from the flange.

- Unclip the black hose - arrow - on the right side of the fuel tank from the fuel delivery unit housing.






- Disconnect the supply line - arrow - for the suction jet pumps on the right side of the fuel tank. Disconnecting the couplings, refer to => [ Coupling, Disconnecting ] Coupling, Disconnecting.






- Rotate the fuel delivery unit approximately 15° to the left and remove it from the bottom of the fuel tank.

The fuel delivery unit housing is filled with fuel. Fuel may leak out if the housing is tipped or tilted.

- Install the right fuel level sensor.

- Lift the left flange.

- Disconnect the fuel level sensor 3 connector - arrow - from the flange.






- Remove the fuel level sensor 3 on the left side - 1 - and the retainer - 2 - for the suction jet pumps - 3 -.






The suction jet pump is not shown in the illustration.

- Turn both suction jet pumps and remove them.

Installing

Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
