Rear Coolant Pipe







Rear Coolant Pipe

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Hose Clip Pliers (V.A.G 1921)

Removing

- Drain the coolant. Refer to => [ Coolant, Draining ] Coolant, Draining.

- Remove the turbocharger. Refer to => [ Turbocharger ] Turbocharger.

- Remove the front exhaust pipe with catalytic converter. Refer to => [ Front Exhaust Pipe with Catalytic Converter, Particulate Filter and Rear Exhaust Pipe Overview ] Front Exhaust Pipe with Catalytic Converter, Particulate Filter and Rear Exhaust Pipe Overview.

- Remove the bolts - 1 and 3 - ; then push the left coolant pipe on the back of the transmission downward.






The installed location is shown with the engine removed.

Ignore - 2, 4 and the arrows -.

- Disconnect the connector - 4 - from the engine coolant temperature sensor.






- Remove the bolts - 1 and 2 - and remove the rear coolant pipe from the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) cooler.

- Loosen the clamp - 3 - and remove the rear coolant pipe.

Installing

Install in the reverse order of removal. Note the following:

Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Coolant Pipes Overview ] Coolant Pipes Overview.

Replace the O-ring.

The hose connections as well as the charge air pipes and hoses must be free of oil and grease before installing.

Secure all hose connections using hose clamps appropriate for the model type.

- Fill the coolant. Refer to => [ Coolant, Filling ] Coolant, Filling.
