Sealing Flange Overview
1 Bolt
• 120 Nm + an additional 90° (1/4) turn.
• Always replace.
• Use the counter support (3415) to loosen and tighten.
• Do not lubricate or grease the threads or collar.
• The additional turn can occur in several stages.
2 Crankshaft Toothed Belt Gear
• There must be no oil on the contact surface between the toothed belt gear and the crankshaft.
• Only possible to install in one position.
3 Seal
• Do not lubricate or grease the sealing lip on the seal.
• Before installing, remove any remaining oil from the crankshaft journal with a clean cloth.
• Replacing, refer to => [ Crankshaft Seal, Belt Pulley Side ] Service and Repair.
4 Sealing Flange
• Must be seated on the alignment pins.
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Sealing Flange, Belt Pulley Side ] Service and Repair.
• Install using silicone sealant (D 176 404 A2). Refer to => [ Sealing Flange, Belt Pulley Side ] Service and Repair.
5 Cylinder Block
• Crankshaft overview. Refer to => [ Crankshaft Overview ] Crankshaft Overview.
• Piston and connecting rod overview. Refer to => [ Pistons and Connecting Rod Overview ] Service and Repair.
6 Alignment Pin
• Quantity: 2
7 Bolt
• Tightening sequence and specification, refer to => [ Sealing Flange Bolt Tightening Sequence and Specification ].
