Ribbed Belt Overview
1 Vibration Damper
• With the pulley for the ribbed belt.
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Vibration Damper ] Service and Repair.
2 O-ring
• No replacement part available, part of the bolt.
3 Bolt
• 150 Nm + 90° (1/4) additional turn.
• Always replace.
• Use the counter hold tool (T10355) to loosen and tighten.
4 Ribbed Belt
• Check the belt for wear.
• Do not kink the belt when installing.
Risk of destroying due to reversed running direction of a used ribbed belt:
• Before removing the ribbed belt, mark the running direction with chalk or a felt-tip pen for reinstallation later.
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Ribbed Belt ] Ribbed Belt.
• When installing, make sure the belt is seated correctly on the pulleys.
5 Ribbed Belt Tensioner
• To release the tension on the ribbed belt, rotate using an open end wrench.
• Secure using the locking pin (T10060 A).
• Installed position, refer to => [ Ribbed Belt Tensioner, Installed Position ].
• Removing and installing, refer to one of the following:
Jetta/GLI for MY 08 through 10, Jetta SportWagen (US)/Jetta Wagon (Canada) for MY 09. Refer to => [ Ribbed Belt Tensioner ] Service and Repair.
GLI from MY 12. Refer to => [ Ribbed Belt Tensioner ] Service and Repair.
6 Accessory Bracket
• With the oil pressure switch (F1) , oil filter and oil cooler.
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Accessory Bracket ] Service and Repair.

7 Bolt
• 10 Nm
8 Generator
9 Bolt
• 23 Nm
10 Bolt
• Always replace.
• For the tightening sequence and tightening specification; refer to => [ Accessory Bracket Bolt Tightening Sequence and Specification ].
11 Bracket with Idler Pulley
• Not available in the US/Canadian market.
• For vehicles without Air Conditioning (A/C).
12 Bolt
• 25 Nm
13 A/C Compressor
• Do not remove or disconnect the refrigerant lines.
14 Bolt
• 25 Nm
15 Alignment Sleeve
• For A/C compressor or bracket with idler pulley.

Accessory Bracket Bolt Tightening Sequence and Specification
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Torque Wrench (5-50 Nm) (V.A.G 1331)
Procedure
- Position the accessory bracket and install the bolt - 4 -.
- Tighten the bolts in 3 passes in sequence - 1 through 5 - as follows:
- Tighten the bolts by hand.
- Tighten the bolts to 20 Nm.
- Tighten the bolts an additional 90° (1/4) turn.
