Fuel Level Sensor 2 (G169)
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Wrench (T10202)
• Torque Wrench (40-200 Nm) (V.A.G 1332)
• The fuel tank may be a maximum of 1/2 full.
• Make sure the fuel level sensor is not bent.
• Drain the fuel tank as necessary using the fuel extracting device (VAS 5190). Refer to => [ Fuel Tank, Draining ] Fuel Tank, Draining.
• Read the safety precautions before starting. Refer to => [ Safety Precautions ] Safety Precautions.
• Pay attention to the rules of cleanliness. Refer to => [ Clean Working Conditions ] Clean Working Conditions.
Removing
- Remove the rear seat bench.
- Remove the left cover for the fuel level sensor 2.
- Disconnect the connectors - 1 and 2 -.
- Remove the lock ring using the wrench (T10202).
- Pull the fuel level sensor 2 slightly upward and unclip the suction jet pump.
Installing
Do not bend the fuel level sensor 2 float arm when installing.
- Insert fuel level sensor 2 into the fuel tank.
- Connect the suction jet pump to the sensor in the inside of the fuel tank. The catches must engage.
- Replace the seal.
- Install the fuel delivery unit seal into the fuel tank opening dry.
- Coat the inner side of the seal with fuel.
- Note the fuel level sensor 2 installed location, refer to => [ Installed Position of the Fuel Delivery Unit Flange and the Fuel Level Sensor 2 Flange ] Fuel Tank and Attachments Overview.
- Make sure that the seals are in their correct positions.
- Tighten the lock ring.
• Tightening specification: 110 Nm
- Connect the connectors and the connections.
- Install the cover.
• The arrow on the cover must point in the direction of travel.
- Install the rear seat bench.
