Fuel Injectors
Fuel Injectors
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Tool Set (T10133)
• Puller (T10133/2) was changed and is now called puller (T10133/2-A). If the new tool is not available, the old one can be modified.
Modifying the puller (T10133/2) to create puller (T10133/2-A)
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Round File approximately 6 mm
- File a semi-circle as shown in the illustration. The semi-circle allows the tool to slide farther onto the fuel injector. This provides the tool with a larger contact surface.
- Mark the modified tool with an "A" at the end of the tool number.
Fuel Injector, Individual Parts
1. Radial compensation (replace)
2. Combustion chamber seal (Teflon seal) - replace, the seal must not be greased or be handled with any other lubricant during installation.
3. Groove on fuel injector
4. Support washer (replace)
5. O-ring (replace, coat lightly with clean engine oil when installing)
6. Support ring
• With the fuel injector installed, the radial compensation - 1 - is clipped into the support ring - 6 -. To remove the fuel injector, the support ring must be separated from the fuel injector in order to install the puller (T10133/2) into the indentation on the fuel injector - 3 -.
Removing
- Remove the intake manifold. Refer to => [ Intake Manifold ] Intake Manifold.
- Cover the intake passages with a clean cloth.
- Move the retaining hooks on the radial compensation to the side using a screwdriver and pull off support ring from fuel injector.
• The radial compensation retaining hooks are damaged by this (retaining hooks break). The radial compensation should be replaced before reinstalling fuel injector.
- Insert the puller (T10133/2A) into the groove on the fuel injector.
- Mount the removal tool (T10133/16) , turn the bolt - 1 - and remove the fuel injector.
Installing
• The Teflon seal on the fuel injector may not be oiled or greased.
• Possibly an opened intake valve hinders the cleaning. In this case, the engine must be turned further by hand using a ratchet on the crankshaft.
- Clean the holes in the cylinder head for the fuel injectors thoroughly using a nylon brush (T10133/4).
- Replace the O-ring, radial compensation, support washer and Teflon seal for the fuel injector, refer to=> [ Fuel Injector Teflon Seal ] Fuel Injector Teflon Seal.
- Slide the fuel injector into the bore cylinder head as far as the stop using the assembly drift (T10133/9).
- Make sure the fuel injectors are positioned correctly inside the cylinder head.
