Removing
Before beginning the work, clean and seal off all surrounding part.
Never use cutting wire to remove the spoiler on the edge of the roof.
- Thread cutting wire - 6 - between the rear lid - 1 - and spoiler on the edge of the roof - 4 -.
- With "sawing motion" of both pull handles - 5 -, cut through adhesive tape - 2 - and adhesive bead - 3 - on one side.
- Repeat cutting of adhesive tape and adhesive bead on other side.
- Insert several Removal Wedge (3409) between the rear lid - 1 - and spoiler on the edge of the roof - arrows a - until all the hooks - 2 - have been disengaged. A clear and definite click must be heard.
Remove the side hooks - dimension c - = 260 mm (10.25 inches) and - dimension d - = 400 mm (15.75 inches).
- Reach between the spoiler on the edge of the roof and the rear lid, press the spoiler - 3 - on the rear lid and remove the it upward - arrows b - from the catches - 4 -.
Installation
• Check the hooks for damage to see if a new spoiler is needed.
• Retaining strip - 6 - is installed. Refer to => [ Roof Edge Spoiler Retaining Strip ] Roof Edge Spoiler Retaining Strip.
• The brake lamp is installed inside the roof edge spoiler. .
• The surfaces of roof edge spoiler - 3 - and rear lid - 2 - are primed.
- Apply adhesive bead to primed surface - 3 - or roof edge spoiler.
- Place roof edge spoiler - 5 - on retaining strip - 6 -.
- Align roof edge spoiler - 5 - to rear lid - 1 - and press roof edge spoiler into catch on retaining strip.
- With new rear edge spoilers, remove adhesive tape protective foil - 4 - and press roof edge spoiler firmly into retaining strip.
- With reused roof edge spoiler, secure corners to rear lid with commercially available adhesive tape.
