Windshield Wiper System

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1783)

• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1331)

When disconnecting and connecting the battery, always perform the work procedure as described in the repair information. Refer to=> [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Service and Repair.

Removal

- Deactivate the APP function. Refer to => [ Alternating Park Position (APP Function), Deactivating ] Testing and Inspection.

- Allow the wiper arms to move to the end position and then switch off the ignition and remove the ignition key.

- Disconnect battery. Refer to=> [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Service and Repair.

- Wiper arms, removing, refer to=> [ Wiper Arms ] Service and Repair.

- Remove the plenum chamber cover.

- Remove and install the plenum chamber bulkhead.

- Release the harness connector - 1 - at the wiper motor and disconnect.






- Unscrew the mounting bolts - arrows - and remove the wiper frame with linkage and wiper motor - 2 - upward out of the vehicle.

Installation

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

- Insert the wiper frame with linkage and wiper motor into the plenum chamber.

- Insert the guide pin - 2 - of the wiper frame during installation into the rubber grommet - 1 - in the bulkhead.






- Screw in the mounting bolts - arrows - and tighten to specification. Refer to=> [ Windshield Wiper System Overview ] Windshield Wiper System Overview.






- Connect the harness connector - 1 - to the connection at the wiper motor and lock it into place.
