Oil Pan/Oil Pump Overview






Oil Pan/Oil Pump Overview

If large quantities of metal particles or abraded material are detected during engine repairs, it may mean the crankshaft or rod bearings are damaged. To prevent further damage, perform the following steps after the repair:

Clean the oil channels carefully.

Replace the oil spray jets.

Replace the engine oil cooler.

Replace the oil filter.

The oil level must not exceed the MAX marking - danger of damaging the catalytic converter.






1 Oil Level Thermal Sensor (G266)

Replace

4 Lower Oil Pan

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Lower Oil Pan ] Lower Oil Pan.

5 Bolt

9 Nm

6 Oil Baffle

Always replace.

7 Bolt

M6 - 9 Nm

M8 - 20 Nm

8 Oil Pump

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Oil Pump ] Oil Pump.

9 Centering Sleeve

Mark the rotation direction before removing.

Lower Oil Bolt Tightening Sequence





- Tighten the bolts - 1 through 20 - in 3 steps as follows:

1 - Tighten the bolts hand tight.

2 - Tighten the bolts to 8 Nm.

3 - Tighten the bolts an additional 45° (1/8) turn

Upper Oil Pan Bolt Tightening Sequence





- Tighten the bolts - 1 through 14 - in 3 steps as follows:

1 - Tighten the bolts hand tight.

2 - Tighten the bolts to 15 Nm.

3 - Tighten the bolts an additional 90° (1/4) turn.

Oil Separator Bolt Tightening Sequence





- Tighten the bolts in the following sequence - 1 through 9 - to 9 Nm.
