Shift and Selector Cables

• Lubricate mounting areas and slide surfaces with grease (G 000 450 02).





1 Shift cable

• Connect with cable retainer --> [ 18 Cable retainer ]

• Installed location --> [ Selector Mechanism Installation Position ] Selector Mechanism Installation Position.

2 Selector cable

• Connect with cable retainer --> [ 11 Cable locking mechanism ]

• Installed location --> [ Selector Mechanism Installation Position ] Selector Mechanism Installation Position.

3 Lock washer

• Always replace

4 Lock washer

• Do not damage cables when removing

• Always replace

5 Selector housing

6 Hex bolt, 20 Nm

• Quantity: 2

• For mounting bracket

7 Mounting bracket

8 Grommet

• Mounting bracket to transmission

9 Spacer

10 Nut, 20 Nm

• For mounting bracket

11 Cable locking mechanism

• For selector cable to relay lever

• Do not interchange, the cable retainers for selector cable on relay lever and for shift cable on transmission shift lever are different --> [ Allocation of Cable Retainers ]

12 Actuator lever

• Installation location --> [ Installation Position of Transmission Selector Lever/Relay Lever ]

• Adjust selector mechanism after installing --> [ Selector Mechanism, Adjusting ] Adjustments.

13 Bushing

14 Lock washer

• Always replace

15 Slide shoe

16 Transmission shift lever

• With balance weight

• Insert so that master spline aligns with selector shaft

• Adjust selector mechanism after installing --> [ Selector Mechanism, Adjusting ] Adjustments.

• Installed location --> [ Installation Position of Transmission Selector Lever/Relay Lever ]

17 Self-locking hex nut, 23 Nm

• Always replace

18 Cable retainer

• For shift cable on transmission shift lever

• Do not interchange, the cable retainers for selector cable on relay lever and for shift cable on transmission shift lever are different --> [ Allocation of Cable Retainers ]

The holes in the cable retainers have various diameters.





Installation Position of Transmission Selector Lever/Relay Lever





1. Transmission selector lever with balance weight

2. The relay lever engages into guide rail of transmission selector lever, via guide shoe - arrow -.

Replacing Cable Retainer





- Pull locking mechanism on selector cable and shift cable forward up to stop - arrows 1 - and then turn it toward left to lock it - arrows 2 -.

- Remove lock washer - 3 - from shift cable and remove lock washer - 4 - from selector cable.





- Pull off shift cable and selector cable from pin - arrows -.

- Spread a small quantity of grease (G 000 450 02) on pin - arrows - of transmission shift lever - 1 - and relay lever - 2 -.

- Replace lock washers - 3 - and - 4 - after each disassembly.

- Secure shift cable with lock washer - 3 - and selector cable with lock washer - 4 -.
