Manual Transaxle Unit Dismounting and Remounting

Manual Transaxle Unit Components

Dismounting

1) Remove battery, battery tray with ECM and battery bracket. Service and Repair
2) Remove clutch fluid pipe. Clutch Fluid Pipe Removal and Installation
3) Disconnect back up light switch connector and release wiring harness clamps.
4) Disconnect gear shift and gear select control cables (1) from transaxle. Gear Shift Control Lever and Cable Removal and Installation





5) Remove ground cable from transaxle.
6) Remove engine undercovers.
7) Drain transaxle oil. Removal and Replacement
8) Remove exhaust pipe. Exhaust System Components
9) Remove starting motor. Starting Motor Removal and Installation
10) Remove drive shaft assembly and drive intermediate shaft. Front Drive Shaft Assembly Removal and Installation
/ Drive Intermediate Shaft Assembly Removal and Installation
11) Remove front bumper. Service and Repair
12) Open engine hood as wide as possible and hold it by using rope.
13) Hang up engine with chain (1) so that engine does not tilt.





14) Remove front suspension frame. Front Suspension Frame Components
15) Support transaxle with transmission jack.
16) Remove transaxle-to-engine bolts (1) of upper side.





17) Remove engine left mounting (1) and engine left mounting bracket (2).





18) Remove engine front mounting and engine front mounting bracket. [1][2]Diagrams
19) Remove engine rear mounting, engine rear mounting bracket No.1 and engine rear mounting bracket No.2. [1][2]Diagrams
20) Remove clutch housing lower plate. Oil Pan and Oil Pump Strainer Components
21) Remove transaxle-to-engine bolts (1) and nut (2) of lower side, and then lower transaxle.






Remounting

Reverse dismounting procedure noting the following points:

- Tighten each bolt and nut to specified torque.

- Front drive shaft / Drive intermediate shaft: Front Drive Shaft Components
- Starting motor: Starting Motor Removal and Installation
- Front suspension frame: Front Suspension Frame Components
- Clutch housing lower plate: Oil Pan and Oil Pump Strainer Removal and Installation
- Engine left mounting bracket: [1][2]Diagrams
- Engine left mounting: [1][2]Diagrams
- Engine front mounting bracket: [1][2]Diagrams
- Engine front mounting: [1][2]Diagrams
- Engine rear mounting bracket No.1: [1][2]Diagrams
- Engine rear mounting bracket No.2: [1][2]Diagrams
- Engine rear mounting: [1][2]Diagrams

- Set each clamp for wiring securely.
- Fill with transaxle oil. Removal and Replacement
- Connect battery and check function of engine, clutch and transaxle.
