INSTRUMENT PANEL: LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL: REMOVAL

CAUTION:
Some of these service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing Service Precautions.

1. TABLE OF BOLT, SCREW AND NUT

HINT
All bolts, screws and nuts relevant to installing and removing the instrument panel are shown along with their alphabet codes in the table below.

2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent the airbag from working.

3. SEPARATE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP RH Removal

4. SEPARATE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH Removal

5. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH Removal

6. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH Removal

7. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL Removal

8. REMOVE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY Removal

9. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH CENTER PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

10. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL RETAINER Removal

11. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY Removal

12. REMOVE UPPER INSTRUMENT PANEL Removal

13. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH Removal

14. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH Removal

15. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

16. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

17. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD RH Removal

18. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD LH Removal

19. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transaxle) Removal

20. REMOVE UPPER CONSOLE PANEL Removal

21. REMOVE REAR CONSOLE BOX COVER Removal

22. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX CARPET Removal

23. REMOVE REAR CONSOLE BOX SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

24. REMOVE AIR CONDITIONING PANEL ASSEMBLY Removal

25. DISCONNECT DEFROSTER DAMPER CONTROL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

26. DISCONNECT AIR INLET DAMPER CONTROL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

27. DISCONNECT AIR MIX DAMPER CONTROL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

28. REMOVE FRONT CONSOLE BOX

(a) Remove the 2 [H] screws.

(b) Disengage the clip and 2 claws and remove the front console box.

29. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER TRAY

(a) Disengage the 4 claws and open the instrument panel under tray.

(b) Remove the 2 [A] screws.

(a) Open the instrument panel box.

(b) Pull the instrument panel box out horizontally with the instrument panel open, disengage the 2 hinges and remove the instrument panel box.

31. REMOVE NO. 2 RADIO BRACKET

(a) Remove the 2 bolts and remove the radio bracket.

32. REMOVE NO. 1 RADIO BRACKET

(a) Remove the 2 bolts and remove the radio bracket.

33. SEPARATE HOOD LOCK CONTROL LEVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Disengage the 3 claws and separate the hood lock control lever.

34. SEPARATE ANTENNA CORD SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Disconnect the 3 clamps and separate the antenna cord.

35. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL

(a) Disengage the 2 claws and disconnect the DLC3 connector.

(b) Remove the 5 [D] or [E] screws, [H] screw, [I] screw, and 2 [F] bolts from the lower instrument panel.

36. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR STOPPER SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Disengage the claw and remove the glove compartment door stopper.

37. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SEAL

(a) Disengage the 4 claws and remove the instrument cluster finish panel seal.

38. REMOVE OUTER MIRROR SWITCH ASSEMBLY

(a) Disengage the 2 claws and remove the outer mirror switch.

39. REMOVE LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT

(a) Disengage the 2 claws and remove the light control rheostat.

40. REMOVE STEREO JACK ADAPTER ASSEMBLY

(a) Disengage the 2 claws and remove the stereo jack adapter (AUX).

(b) Disengage the 2 claws and remove the stereo jack adapter (i Pod).

41. REMOVE CUSHION

(a) Remove the cushion from the lower instrument panel.

42. REMOVE POWER OUTLET SOCKET ASSEMBLY Removal

43. REMOVE POWER OUTLET SOCKET COVER Removal
