Removal





REAR SUSPENSION: REAR AXLE BEAM: REMOVAL

CAUTION:
When the rear axle beam assembly is removed, the front-to-rear weight balance of the raised vehicle becomes unstable, creating the danger that the vehicle might fall. Therefore, before removing the rear axle beam assembly, securely support the front suspension cross member with a transmission jack or other suitable lift.

1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL

2. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID

NOTICE:
Immediately wash off any brake fluid that comes into contact with any painted surfaces.

3. REMOVE TAIL EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY Removal

4. SEPARATE SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE Removal

5. SEPARATE REAR NO. 4 BRAKE TUBE

(a) Using a union nut wrench 10 mm, separate the rear No. 4 brake tube while holding the rear flexible hose with a wrench.





NOTICE:
* Do not kink or damage the brake line.
* Do not allow any foreign matter such as dirt and dust to enter the brake line.

(b) Remove the clip and disconnect the rear flexible hose from the rear axle beam assembly.

(c) Remove the nut and separate the rear No. 4 brake tube.

6. SEPARATE REAR NO. 3 BRAKE TUBE

HINT
Use the same procedure for the RH side as for the LH side.

7. SEPARATE NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the bolt and separate the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.





8. SEPARATE NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY Removal

9. REMOVE REAR BRAKE DRUM

10. REMOVE REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY Removal

11. REMOVE REAR FLOOR PANEL BRACE LH Removal

12. REMOVE REAR FLOOR PANEL BRACE RH

HINT
Use the same procedure for the RH side as for the LH side.

13. LOOSEN REAR AXLE BEAM ASSEMBLY





(a) Support the rear axle beam assembly using an engine lift and 2 wooden blocks as shown in the illustration.

CAUTION:
Securely support the rear axle beam assembly to prevent it from falling.

(b) Loosen the 2 bolts.

NOTICE:
Do not remove the bolts.

14. SEPARATE REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the bolt while keeping the nut from rotating and separate the shock absorber.





NOTICE:
Remove the nut from the bolt side because the nut is a jam nut.

15. REMOVE REAR COIL SPRING Removal

16. REMOVE REAR AXLE BEAM ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 2 bolts and remove the rear axle beam assembly.

17. REMOVE REAR AXLE CARRIER BUSH





(a) Place a matchmark on the rear axle beam assembly with it aligned with the center of the bush groove.

(b) Using a chisel and hammer, bend the 2 portions of the bush rib.

NOTICE:
* Bend the bush rib until the claw of SST can be suspended.
* When removing the bush, do not rub off the matchmark on the rear axle beam assembly.

(c) Using SST, remove the rear axle carrier bush from the rear axle beam assembly.

NOTICE:
Apply paint to any scratches on the rear axle beam assembly.
