U760E Automatic Transaxle
U760E AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION / TRANSAXLE: AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE SYSTEM: P0705: Transmission Range Sensor Circuit Malfunction (PRNDL Input)
P0705 - Transmission Range Sensor Circuit Malfunction (PRNDL Input)
DESCRIPTION
The park/neutral position switch detects the shift lever position and sends signals to the TCM.
MONITOR DESCRIPTION
This DTC indicates a problem with the park/neutral position switch and/or the wire harness in the park/neutral position switch circuit.
The park/neutral position switch detects the shift lever position (P, R or D) and sends a signal to the TCM.
For safety, the park/neutral position switch detects the shift lever position so that the engine cannot be started when the shift lever is not in P or N.
The TCM determines that there is a problem with the switch or related parts if it receives more than 1 position signal simultaneously, or receives no position signal at all.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
NOTICE:
Perform the universal trip to clear permanent DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
1. DATA LIST
HINT
Using the Techstream to read the Data List allows the values or states of switches, sensors, actuators and other items to be read without removing any parts. This non-intrusive inspection can be very useful because intermittent conditions or signals may be discovered before parts or wiring is disturbed. Reading the Data List information early in troubleshooting is one way to save diagnostic time.
NOTICE:
In the table below, the values listed under "Normal Condition" are reference values. Do not depend solely on these reference values when deciding whether a part is faulty or not.
(a) Warm up the engine.
(b) Turn the ignition switch off.
(c) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(d) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(e) Turn the Techstream on.
(f) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / ECT / Data List.
(g) According to the display on the Techstream, read the Data List.

PROCEDURE
1. CHECK PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY (POWER SOURCE)
(a) Disconnect the park/neutral position switch connector.
(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Voltage:
Text in Illustration
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH - BATTERY)
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TCM OUTPUT SIGNAL)
(a) Disconnect the park/neutral position switch connector.
(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Voltage:
Text in Illustration
NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH - TCM)
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY
(a) Disconnect the park/neutral position switch connector.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
Text in Illustration
NG -- REPLACE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH - TCM)
(a) Disconnect the TCM connector.
(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Voltage:

HINT
*: The voltage will drop slightly due to the illumination of the back-up light.
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE TCM Removal
5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH - TCM)
(a) Disconnect the park/neutral position switch connector.
(b) Disconnect the TCM connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE TCM Removal
