Hood Primary Latch Release Cable Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the hood latch. Refer to Hood Primary and Secondary Latch Replacement (Service and Repair).
2. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair) in General Information.




3. Remove the left front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
4. Remove the following components from the frame.

* 6 screws (4, 6)
* 3 retainers (5)
* The left front wheelhouse panel (2)

5. Remove the following components from the left side of the instrument panel:

1. The 2 screws
2. The hood latch release handle

6. Remove the hood latch release cable from the hood latch release handle.




7. Attach a piece of mechanic's wire (1) to the hood latch release cable (2). This will aid in the removal and in the installation of the release cable.
8. Remove the release cable from the vehicle.
9. Remove the mechanic's wire (1) from the release cable (2). Leave the mechanic's wire in the vehicle. This will aid in cable installation.

Installation Procedure




1. Attach the mechanic's wire (1) to the hood latch release cable (2) that you are installing.
2. Guide the hood latch release cable into the vehicle with the mechanic's wire.
3. Remove the mechanic's wire (1) from the release cable (2).




4. Install the hood latch release handle to the instrument panel. Secure the handle with 1 screw.
5. Install the left front wheelhouse panel (2). Secure the panel with the following components:

* 6 screws (4, 6)
* 3 retainers (5)

6. Install the left front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
7. Lower the vehicle.
8. Install the hood latch. Refer to Hood Primary and Secondary Latch Replacement (Service and Repair).
