Fascia Replacement - Rear Bumper

Tools Required

J 36346 Fascia Retainer Remover


Removal Procedure

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.




2. Use theJ 36346 in order to remove the push pin retainers that retain the rear bumper fascia to the rear wheelhouse extensions.




3. Remove the bolt retaining the rear bumper fascia (3) at the wheelhouse opening.
4. Disconnect the license lamp electrical connector.
5. Remove the rear fog lamp bulb socket from the rear fog lamp, if equipped.
6. Open the rear compartment.
7. Remove the rear compartment sill trim. Refer to Compartment Trim Panel Replacement - Rear (Compartment Trim Panel Replacement - Rear) in Body Rear End.
8. Fold back the rear compartment side trim panels.




9. Remove the nuts retaining the rear bumper fascia studs (1) to the quarter panels.
10. Remove the nuts retaining the fascia to the rear quarter panel.
11. Remove the rear bumper fascia (3) and the energy absorber (2) from the vehicle.
12. Remove the rear fog lamps, if equipped. Refer to Fog Lamp Replacement - Rear in Lighting.
13. Remove the energy absorber from the fascia. Refer to Energy Absorber Replacement - Rear (Service and Repair) .



Installation Procedure

1. Install the rear fog lamps, if equipped. Refer to Fog Lamp Replacement - Rear in Lighting.
2. Install the energy absorber to the fascia. Refer to Energy Absorber Replacement - Rear (Service and Repair) .




3. Align the bolts (1) in the rear bumper fascia to the body.
4. Connect the license lamp electrical connector (2).





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

5. Install the nuts to secure the rear bumper fascia to the rear end panel.

Tighten the nuts to 6 N.m (53 lb in).

6. Install the nuts to secure the rear bumper fascia (3) to the quarter panels.

Tighten the fasteners to 6 N.m (53 lb in).

7. Reinstall the rear compartment side trim panels.
8. Install the rear compartment sill trim. Refer to Compartment Trim Panel Replacement - Rear (Compartment Trim Panel Replacement - Rear) in Body Rear End.
9. Close the rear compartment.




10. Install the push pin retainers to secure the rear bumper fascia to the rear wheelhouse extensions.
11. Lower the vehicle.
