B - Parking Brake Will Not Release

B1- Check Parking Brake Control
^ Apply the park brake.
^ Raise and support the vehicle.
^ Release the park brake by pulling up on lever and pushing release button.
^ Did parking brake release?
YES
- Refer to Adjustments. Adjustments
NO - Go to B2.

B2- Check Parking Brake Cables
^ Loosen parking brake cable tension. Refer to Parking Brake System - Service and Repair. Service and Repair
^ Rotate rear wheels by hand.
^ Did the rear wheels turn freely?
YES
- Replace parking brake control. Restore vehicle and retest.
NO - Go to B3.

B3- Check Front Parking Brake Cable
^ Disconnect front parking cable and conduit. Refer to Parking Brake Cable - Service and Repair. Service and Repair
^ Rotate rear wheels by hand.
^ Did the rear wheels turn freely?
YES
- Replace the parking brake control.
NO - Go to B4.

B4- Check Rear Parking Brake Cables
^ Disconnect parking brake levers one at a time.
^ Rotate wheel affected by disconnected parking brake lever.
^ Did the rear wheels turn freely?
YES
- Replace suspect parking brake lever on rear drum brakes.
- Replace/overhaul suspect parking brake caliper on rear disc brakes.
NO - Diagnose locked up rear brakes. Refer to Brakes - System Diagnosis. Testing and Inspection
