Parking Brake Control: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Fully release parking brake.
2. Remove console. Refer to Body and Frame.
3. Disconnect parking brake signal switch.





4. Remove two parking brake control mounting bolts.
5. Raise and support vehicle.
6. Lower exhaust system and remove heat shields. Refer to Exhaust System.





7. Remove parking brake rear cable and conduit from parking brake cable and equalizer.
8. Route parking brake cable and equalizer through hole in floor pan.
9. Lower vehicle. Remove parking brake control and parking brake cable and equalizer.





10. Remove parking brake cable and equalizer from parking brake control.

INSTALLATION
1. Position front parking brake cable and conduit on parking brake cable and equalizer.
2. Release adjuster tension. Refer to Parking Brake System - Service and Repair. Service and Repair
3. Position parking brake control in vehicle routing parking brake cable and equalizer through hole in floor pan. Install grommet into opening.
4. Install parking brake control and two mounting bolts. Tighten bolts to 16-26 Nm (12-19 ft. lbs.).
5. Connect parking brake signal switch.
6. Raise and support vehicle.
7. Connect parking brake rear cable and conduits and parking brake cable and equalizer.
8. Install heat shields and raise exhaust system.
9. Lower vehicle.
10. Install console.
11. Operate parking brake control several times to set adjuster.
