Fuel Pressure: Testing and Inspection
PRE-CHECKS:
^ Check for adequate fuel supply in fuel tank (Do not rely on fuel gauge).
^ Verify battery is fully charged.
^ Verify fuse/fuse link integrity.
^ Inspect all hoses, fuel lines, and connections for fuel leaks, kinks and proper routing.
^ Verify correct fuel type and quality.
^ Check TSB's for fuel system design updates.
WARNING: Fuel in the fuel system remains under high pressure even when the engine is not running. To avoid injury or fire, release the fuel pressure from the fuel system before disconnecting any fuel line.
Fuel Pressure Test Setup:
NOTES:
^ To release fuel pressure refer to Fuel Pressure Release Procedure. Service and Repair
^ After releasing the fuel pressure, install Rotunda Fuel Pressure Tester 014-00748 or equivalent with EFI Test Adapter D870-9974-A in the fuel line between the fuel filter and the fuel rail with its main valve open and its drain valve closed.
Data Link Connector:
^ Jump the fuel pump test terminal to ground.
^ Key "ON".
^ Is the fuel pressure between 265-320 kPa (38-46 psi)?
YES -- Go to FD1. FD1 - Check Fuel Injection Function
Low -- Go to FB1. FB1 - Power Supply to Fuel Pump
Zero -- Go to FA1. FA1 - Check Fuel Pump Motor
High -- Go to FC1. FC1 - Check Fuel Pressure Regulator For High Pressure
