Installation

4GR-FSE STARTING: STARTER: INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL STARTER ASSEMBLY

(a) Install the starter with the 2 bolts.

Torque : 58 Nm (591 kgf-cm, 43 ft-lbf)

(b) Connect the wire harness to terminal 30 and install the nut, and then attach the terminal cap.

Torque : 9.8 Nm (100 kgf-cm, 87 in-lbf)

(c) Connect the terminal 50 connector to the starter assembly.

2. INSTALL EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Install a new gasket and the exhaust manifold with 6 new nuts.

Torque : 21 Nm (214 kgf-cm, 15 ft-lbf)

(b) Connect the air fuel ratio sensor (for sensor 1) connector.

Torque : 12.5 Nm (127 kgf-cm, 9 ft-lbf)

(d) Install the engine wire bracket with the bolt (A).

Torque : 10 Nm (102 kgf-cm, 7 ft-lbf)

(e) Install the ground cable with the 2 bolts (B, C).

Bolt (B) - Torque : 10 Nm (102 kgf-cm, 7 ft-lbf)

Bolt (C) - Torque : 13 Nm (133 kgf-cm, 10 ft-lbf)

3. INSTALL NO. 1 EXHAUST PIPE SUPPORT BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Install the No. 1 exhaust pipe support bracket subassembly to the automatic transmission assembly with the 2 bolts.

Torque : 43 Nm (438 kgf-cm, 32 ft-lbf)

4. INSTALL FRONT PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY (for 4WD) Installation

5. INSTALL FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY Installation

6. INSTALL HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for 2WD) Installation

7. INSTALL HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for 4WD) Installation

8. INSTALL FRONT CENTER FLOOR BRACE Installation

9. INSTALL REAR NO. 1 FLOOR PANEL BRACE Installation

10. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH Installation

11. INSTALL COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL Installation

12. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL Installation

13. CHECK FOR EXHAUST LEAKS

14. PERFORM INITIALIZATION

(a) Perform initialization procedure Service Precautions.

Some vehicle systems require initialization after reconnecting the negative battery cable.
