Removal





REAR SUSPENSION: REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER: REMOVAL

NOTICE:
When the brake pedal is first depressed after replacing the brake pads or pushing back the disc brake piston, DTC C1214 may be output. As there is no malfunction, clear the DTC.

1. PRECAUTION

NOTICE:
After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notice before proceeding with work. Service Precautions

2. DISABLE BRAKE CONTROL Removal

3. REMOVE REAR WHEELS

4. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

5. DISCONNECT FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH Removal

6. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL LH Removal

7. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

8. LOOSEN PARKING BRAKE CABLE Removal

9. REMOVE TAIL EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY

Removal

10. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION ARM COVER LH Removal

11. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION ARM COVER RH

HINT
Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

12. REMOVE REAR FLOOR SIDE MEMBER COVER (w/ Floor Under Cover)

(a) for LH Side:

(1) Remove the nut, 2 bolts and clip.





(2) Disengage the clip and remove the rear floor side member cover LH.

(b) for RH Side:

(1) Remove the bolt and nut.





(2) Disengage the 2 clips and remove the rear floor side member cover RH.

13. SEPARATE REAR SPEED SENSOR WIRE LH Removal

Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

15. REMOVE REAR HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/ Height Control Sensor) Removal

16. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE LEVER PROTECTOR (for LH Side) Removal

17. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE LEVER PROTECTOR (for RH Side)

HINT
Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

18. DISCONNECT NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY Removal

19. DISCONNECT NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY

HINT
Perform the same procedure as for the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.

20. SEPARATE REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY LH Replacement

21. SEPARATE REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY RH

Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

22. REMOVE REAR DISC

(a) Remove the 2 rear discs Removal.

23. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH Removal

24. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY RH

HINT
Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

25. REMOVE REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY (for LH Side)

(a) Loosen the 2 bolts (A), bolt (B) and bolt (C).

NOTICE:
* Since the stopper nuts are used, turn the bolts.
* Do not remove the bolts.

(b) Use a jack and wooden block to keep the rear No. 2 suspension arm assembly level.

CAUTION:
Do not jack up the rear No. 2 suspension arm assembly too high as the vehicle may fall.

NOTICE:
* When jacking up the rear No. 2 suspension arm assembly, be sure to jack it up slowly.
* Make sure to perform this operation with the vehicle kept as low as possible.

(c) Remove the 2 bolts (A), and separate the rear trailing arm assembly from the rear axle assembly.

(d) Remove the bolt (B), nut and No. 2 flexible hose bracket, and then separate the rear upper control arm assembly from the rear axle assembly.

NOTICE:
Since a stopper nut is used, turn the bolt.

(e) Remove the bolt (C), nut and rear axle assembly from the rear No. 2 suspension arm assembly.

NOTICE:
Since a stopper nut is used, turn the bolt.

26. REMOVE REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY (for RH Side)

Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

27. REMOVE REAR STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH Removal

29. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER BRACE LH Removal

31. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Support the rear No. 2 suspension arm assembly LH using a jack and wooden block.

CAUTION:
Do not jack up the rear No. 2 suspension arm assembly too high as the vehicle may fall.

NOTICE:
* When jacking up the rear No. 2 suspension arm assembly, be sure to jack it up slowly.
* Make sure to perform this operation with the vehicle kept as low as possible.

(b) Loosen the bolt (A).

NOTICE:
* Since a stopper nut is used, turn the bolt.
* Do not remove the bolt.

(c) Remove the bolt (B) and nut, and then slowly lower the rear No. 2 suspension arm assembly LH, and remove the rear coil spring LH.

NOTICE:
Since a stopper nut is used, turn the bolt.

(d) Remove the bolt, nut and rear No. 2 suspension arm assembly LH from the rear suspension member sub-assembly.





NOTICE:
Since a stopper nut is used, turn the bolt.

32. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY RH

Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

33. REMOVE REAR UPPER COIL SPRING INSULATOR LH Removal

34. REMOVE REAR UPPER COIL SPRING INSULATOR RH

Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

35. REMOVE REAR LOWER COIL SPRING INSULATOR LH Removal

36. REMOVE REAR LOWER COIL SPRING INSULATOR RH

Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

37. REMOVE REAR STABILIZER BAR Removal

38. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Support the rear suspension member sub-assembly with an engine lifter using 4 attachments or equivalent tools as shown in the illustration.

NOTICE:
* Make sure to secure the rear suspension member sub-assembly to prevent it from dropping.
* Use the attachments to keep the rear suspension member sub-assembly level.
* The rear suspension member sub-assembly is a heavy component. Make sure that it is supported securely.

(b) Remove the 2 bolts, 2 rear suspension member rear lower stoppers, 2 nuts (A), 2 nuts (B) and 2 rear suspension member lower stoppers.

(c) Slowly lower the rear suspension member sub-assembly.

NOTICE:
When lowering the rear suspension member sub-assembly, be careful not to damage the vehicle body or other components installed on the vehicle.

39. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER UPPER STOPPER

(a) Remove the 2 rear suspension member upper stoppers.





40. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER REAR UPPER STOPPER

(a) Remove the 2 rear suspension member rear upper stoppers.





41. REMOVE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Remove the bolt, nut and rear upper control arm assembly LH from the rear suspension member sub-assembly.





NOTICE:
Since a stopper nut is used, turn the bolt.

42. REMOVE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY RH

HINT
Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

43. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER FRONT BODY MOUNTING CUSHION (for LH Side)

(a) Install SST as shown in the illustration.

NOTICE:
Apply a small amount of grease to the threads and tip of SST (center bolt) before use.

(b) Using SST, separate the rear suspension member front body mounting cushion from the rear suspension member sub-assembly, while applying grease to the clearance between the rear suspension member front body mounting cushion and the rear suspension member sub-assembly.

NOTICE:
* Set the claws of SST onto the rear suspension member sub-assembly securely.
* Be careful as the rear suspension member front body mounting cushion may fly out.
* The rear suspension member front body mounting cushion cannot be reused.

(c) Remove SST and the rear suspension member front body mounting cushion from the rear suspension member sub-assembly.

44. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER FRONT BODY MOUNTING CUSHION (for RH Side)

HINT
Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

45. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER REAR BODY MOUNTING CUSHION LH

(a) Install SST as shown in the illustration.

NOTICE:
