2. REMOVE PROPELLER SHAFT WITH CENTER BEARING ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 3 bolts and disengage the 2 clamps.





(b) Separate the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly from the parking brake equalizer.

25. SEPARATE NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY

38. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Remove the bolt and nut (B), and separate the rear stabilizer link assembly LH and height control sensor link bracket.

HINT
There is only the height control sensor link bracket on vehicles with the HID headlight system.

(b) Remove the bolt (A) and nut, and separate the rear shock absorber with coil spring LH.

NOTICE:
Turn the bolt while holding the nut.

(c) Remove the bolt, washer, nut (C) and rear No. 2 suspension arm assembly LH.

39. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY RH

(a) Remove the bolt and nut (B), and separate the rear stabilizer link assembly RH.





(b) Remove the bolt (A) and nut, and separate the rear shock absorber with coil spring RH.

NOTICE:
Turn the bolt while holding the nut.

(c) Remove the bolt, washer, nut (C) and rear No. 2 suspension arm assembly RH.

40. REMOVE REAR HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY (W/ HID Headlight System)

(a) Disengage the clamp and disconnect the connector.





(b) Remove the 2 bolts and rear height control sensor sub-assembly.





41. REMOVE REAR LOWER SUSPENSION MEMBER STOPPER REINFORCE LH Removal

42. REMOVE REAR LOWER SUSPENSION MEMBER STOPPER REINFORCE RH

HINT
Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

43. REMOVE REAR STABILIZER BAR

(a) Remove the 4 bolts, 2 rear stabilizer brackets, 2 rear stabilizer bushings, and rear stabilizer bar.





44. REMOVE REAR DIFFERENTIAL CARRIER ASSEMBLY (for 2GR-FSE)

(a) Support the rear differential carrier and rear drive shaft assemblies using a jack and 2 attachments as shown in the illustration.

CAUTION:
* The rear differential carrier and rear drive shaft assemblies are very heavy. Make sure to securely support it with a transmission jack to prevent it from dropping.
* In order to prevent the rear differential carrier and rear drive shaft assemblies from tilting excessively or falling, perform the following procedure using several people to hold the rear differential carrier and rear drive shaft assemblies.
NOTICE:
Keep the jack, rear differential carrier and rear drive shaft assemblies level.

(b) Using a straight hexagon and a wrench, remove the 3 bolts (A) as shown in the illustration.





NOTICE:
Remove the bolts while securing the rear suspension member sub-assembly.

(c) Remove the 2 bolts (B), 2 rear lower differential mount stoppers and rear differential carrier assembly with rear drive shaft assemblies.

NOTICE:
* Do not damage the installation surface when removing the rear differential carrier and rear drive shaft assemblies.
* Remove the bolts while securing the rear suspension member sub-assembly.
(d) Remove the 2 rear upper differential mount stoppers from the rear differential carrier assembly.

45. REMOVE REAR DIFFERENTIAL CARRIER ASSEMBLY (for 4GR-FSE)

(a) Support the rear differential carrier and rear drive shaft assemblies using a jack and 2 attachments as shown in the illustration.

CAUTION:
* The rear differential carrier and rear drive shaft assemblies are very heavy. Make sure to securely support it with a transmission jack to prevent it from dropping.

(c) Remove the 2 bolts (B), 2 rear lower differential mount stoppers and rear differential carrier assembly with rear drive shaft assemblies.

NOTICE:
* Do not damage the installation surface when removing the rear differential carrier and rear drive shaft assemblies.
* Remove the bolts while securing the rear suspension member sub-assembly.
(d) Remove the 2 rear upper differential mount stoppers from the rear differential carrier assembly.

46. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Support the rear suspension member with a jack using 4 wooden blocks as shown in the illustration.

NOTICE:
Make sure to secure the rear suspension member sub-assembly to prevent it from dropping.

HINT
Keep the rear suspension member sub-assembly level.

(b) Remove the 8 bolts, 2 rear suspension member stoppers and rear suspension member lower stoppers from the rear suspension member sub-assembly.





(c) Slowly lower the rear suspension member sub-assembly.

NOTICE:
When lowering the rear suspension member sub-assembly, be careful not to damage the vehicle body or other components installed on the vehicle.

47. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY (for LH Side)

(a) Remove the bolt, nut, washer, and rear No. 1 upper control arm assembly from the rear suspension member sub-assembly.





48. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY (for RH Side)

HINT
Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

49. REMOVE TOE CONTROL LINK SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Put matchmarks on the toe adjust plate and rear suspension member sub-assembly.

(b) Remove the nut, toe adjust cam, toe adjust plate, and toe control link sub-assembly LH.

50. REMOVE TOE CONTROL LINK SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

51. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER REAR UPPER STOPPER (for LH Side)

(a) Remove the rear suspension member rear upper stopper from the rear suspension member sub-assembly.





52. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER REAR UPPER STOPPER (for RH Side)

HINT
Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

53. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 DIFFERENTIAL MOUNT CUSHION Removal

54. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 DIFFERENTIAL MOUNT CUSHION Removal

55. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER FRONT BODY MOUNTING CUSHION (for LH Side)

(a) Using SST, remove the rear suspension member front body mounting cushion, while applying grease to the clearance between the rear suspension member front body mounting cushion and the rear suspension member sub-assembly.

NOTICE:
* Apply grease to the threads and tip of SST center bolt before use.
* Be careful as the rear suspension member front body mounting cushion may fly out.
* The rear suspension member front body mounting cushion cannot be reused.
(b) If the outer casing of the rear suspension member front body mounting cushion remains, insert SST between the rear suspension member front body mounting cushion and the rear suspension member sub-assembly, then remove the outer casing.

56. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER FRONT BODY MOUNTING CUSHION (for RH Side)

HINT
Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

57. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER REAR BODY MOUNTING CUSHION (for LH Side)

(a) Using a chisel and hammer, bend the 2 portions of the rear suspension member rear body mounting cushion rib.

NOTICE:
Make sure to bend the 2 portions of the cushion rib until the claws of SST can fit securely.

(b) Using SST, remove the rear suspension member rear body mounting cushion, while applying grease to the clearance between the rear suspension member rear body mounting cushion and the rear suspension member sub-assembly

(a) Remove the 4 hole plugs from the rear suspension member sub-assembly.
