Removal





REAR SUSPENSION: REAR SHOCK ABSORBER: REMOVAL

HINT
* Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.
* The procedure listed below is for the LH side.
1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL

2. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 FLOOR HOUSING SHIELD

3. REMOVE REAR WHEEL HOUSE LINER

4. REMOVE CAP

(a) Disengage the 4 claws, and then remove the cap.





5. REMOVE NO. 2 DIFFERENTIAL SUPPORT PROTECTOR

(a) Remove the 2 nuts and No. 2 differential support protector.





6. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER BRACE

(a) Remove the 2 bolts and rear suspension member brace.





7. SEPARATE REAR NO. 2 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY

(a) Support the rear axle assembly with a jack using a wooden block.

(b) Loosen the nut (A).

NOTICE:
Do not remove the nut.

(c) Remove the bolt and nut (B). Separate the stabilizer link assembly and height control sensor link bracket from the rear No. 2 suspension arm assembly.

HINT
There is only the height control sensor link bracket on vehicles with the HID headlight system.

(d) Remove the bolt (C), nut and rear shock absorber with coil spring.

NOTICE:
Turn the bolt while holding the nut.

(e) Remove the bolt (D) and nut, and separate the rear No. 2 suspension arm assembly from the rear axle carrier.

NOTICE:
Turn the bolt while holding the nut.

8. REMOVE REAR SHOCK ABSORBER WITH COIL SPRING

(a) Remove the 3 nuts and rear No. 1 suspension support cover on the upper side of the rear shock absorber with coil spring.





(b) Remove the 2 bolts and rear shock absorber with coil spring from the body.





NOTICE:
During this operation, hold the rear shock absorber with coil spring to prevent it from falling.

9. REMOVE REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY

(a) Loosen the rear support to rear shock absorber nut while holding the rod of the rear shock absorber assembly with a hexagon socket wrench.

NOTICE:
* Do not remove the rear support to rear shock absorber nut.
* Securely insert the hexagon socket wrench to the rod of shock absorber assembly to prevent damage to the rear shock absorber assembly.
(b) Install SST to the rear coil spring so that the distance between the upper and lower hooks is as wide as possible within the installation area.

(c) Compress the rear coil spring until it can be moved freely.

NOTICE:
Do not use an impact wrench. It will damage SST.

(d) Remove the rear support to rear shock absorber nut.

(e) Remove the rear No. 1 shock absorber cushion washer, rear No. 1 shock absorber cushion, rear suspension support assembly, rear upper coil spring insulator, collar, rear No. 2 shock absorber cushion and rear No. 1 spring bumper.

(f) Remove the rear coil spring with SST and rear lower coil spring insulator from the rear shock absorber assembly.

(g) Release SST and remove it from the rear coil spring.
