UF1AE TRANSFER: TRANSFER CASE FRONT OIL SEAL: REPLACEMENT

1. DRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID Removal

2. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 FLOOR PANEL BRACE Removal

3. REMOVE FRONT CENTER FLOOR BRACE Removal

4. REMOVE HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR Removal

5. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY Removal

6. REMOVE FRONT PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY Removal

7. REMOVE FLANGE YOKE

(a) Using SST and a hammer, release the staked part of the nut.

NOTICE:
* Be sure to use the SST with the tapered surface facing the shaft.
* Do not grind the tip of the SST with a grinder or other device.
* Completely loosen the staked part of the nut when removing it.
* Do not damage the threads of the output shaft.
(b) Using SST, hold the flange yoke.

(c) Using a deep socket wench (30 mm), remove the nut.

(d) Remove the flange yoke from the transfer assembly.

8. REMOVE TRANSFER CASE FRONT OIL SEAL

(a) Using SST, remove the oil seal.

9. INSTALL TRANSFER CASE FRONT OIL SEAL

(a) Using SST and a hammer, install a new oil seal.

Oil seal installation depth:

5.6 to 6.2 mm (0.220 to 0.244 in.)

(b) Apply MP grease to the oil seal lip.

10. INSTALL FLANGE YOKE

(a) Install the flange yoke to the transfer assembly.

(b) Using SST, hold the flange yoke.

(c) Using a deep socket wench (30 mm), torque a new nut.

Torque : 123 Nm (1,250 kgf-cm, 91 ft-lbf)

(d) Using a chisel and hammer, stake the nut.

12. INSTALL FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY Installation

13. INSTALL HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR Installation

14. INSTALL FRONT CENTER FLOOR BRACE Installation

15. INSTALL REAR NO. 1 FLOOR PANEL BRACE Installation

16. ADD AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID Installation

17. CHECK FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAKS
