INSTRUMENT PANEL: INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD: REMOVAL
REMOVAL
1. BOLT, SCREW AND NUT TABLE
HINT: All bolts, screws and nuts relevant to installing and removing the instrument panel are shown along with their alphabet codes in the table below.
2. REMOVE SET RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY TO SHIPMENT Removal
3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
4. SET STEERING WHEEL CENTER POINT
5. REMOVE NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER LOWER
6. REMOVE SWITCH AND VOLUME CASE Removal
7. REMOVE STEERING PAD SWITCH MODULATOR Removal
8. REMOVE STEERING PAD ASSEMBLY Removal
9. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY Removal
10. REMOVE DOOR SCUFF PLATE ASSEMBLY RH
(a) Using a screwdriver, detach the 4 claws and 5 clips.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
(b) Disconnect the connector and remove the door scuff plate.
11. REMOVE DOOR SCUFF PLATE ASSEMBLY LH
HINT: Use the same procedures described for RH side.
12. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER RH
(a) Using a screwdriver, detach the 3 claws and remove the trim cover.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
13. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER LH
HINT: Use the same procedures described for RH side.
14. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Disconnect the hood lock control cable and connectors.
(b) Remove the 3 bolts.
(c) Detach the 4 clips and safety pad.
15. REMOVE DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY Removal
16. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Using a screwdriver, detach the 4 clips and remove the panel.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
(b) Disconnect the connector.
17. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER LOWER Removal
18. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER UPPER
19. REMOVE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY Removal
20. REMOVE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the 4 screws.
(b) Disconnect the connectors and remove the combination meter.
21. REMOVE REAR CONSOLE UPPER PANEL GARNISH
(a) Using a moulding remover, detach the 4 claws.
(b) Disconnect the connectors and remove the panel garnish.
22. REMOVE UPPER CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Using a moulding remover, detach the 6 clips and 4 claws.
(b) Disconnect the connectors and remove the panel.
HINT: Move the shift lever to N and close the receptacle door.
23. REMOVE AIR CONDITIONING CONTROL ASSEMBLY
(a) Detach the 6 clips and remove the air conditioning control. Then disconnect the connectors.
24. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY LOWER CENTER
25. SHIP MODE CONFIRMATION
26. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD GARNISH SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/o LEXUS Navigation System)
(a) Using a screwdriver, release the 4 claws on the instrument safety pad body from inside of the registers.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
(b) Using a moulding remover, detach the 5 clips and remove the safety pad garnish.
27. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD GARNISH SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/ LEXUS Navigation System)
(a) Using a screwdriver, release the 2 claws on the instrument safety pad body from inside of the register.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
(b) Using a moulding remover, detach the 3 clips and remove the safety pad garnish.
28. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL GARNISH SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/ LEXUS Navigation System)
(a) Using a screwdriver, release the 2 claws on the instrument safety pad body from inside of the register.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
(b) Using a moulding remover, detach the 6 clips and remove the panel garnish.
29. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY CENTER (w/ LEXUS Navigation System)
30. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Detach the 3 clips and 2 claws.
(b) Disconnect the connector and remove the under cover.
31. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the 2 bolts and 2 screws.
(b) Disconnect the connectors.
CAUTION:
When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
(c) Remove the glove compartment door together with the airbag assembly.
32. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX CARPET
33. REMOVE NO. 3 BOX PANEL
(a) Using a screwdriver, detach the 7 claws and remove the panel.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
34. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the 8 bolts and 4 screws.
(b) Detach the 2 clips and remove the console box.
35. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the 2 bolts and tire pressure monitor receiver.
(b) Remove the nut, bolt and brace.
36. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the 2 nuts, 2 bolts and brace.
37. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH
(a) Using a screwdriver, detach the claw and 2 clips. Then remove the pillar garnish.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
38. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH
HINT: Use the same procedures described for RH side.
39. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL RH
(a) Using a moulding remover, detach the 6 claws and remove the panel.
40. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Fold back the front floor carpet.
(b) Disconnect all connectors.
(c) Remove the 2 caps, 8 bolts and steering yoke bolt.
(d) Detach the 2 claws and remove the instrument panel safety pad (with instrument panel reinforcement and steering column).
