AA80E AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION: AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY: REMOVAL

1. FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD
2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.

3. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

4. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL Removal

5. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH Removal

6. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER RH Removal

7. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER
8. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER
9. REMOVE REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER LH
10. REMOVE REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER RH
11. REMOVE NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET Removal

12. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

13. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

14. REMOVE V-RIBBED BELT Removal

15. REMOVE FRONT STABILIZER BAR (w/o Active Stabilizer System)
(a) Remove the front stabilizer bar Removal.
16. REMOVE FRONT ACTIVE STABILIZER CONTROL ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY (w/ Active Stabilizer System)
(a) Remove the front active stabilizer control actuator assembly Removal.
17. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR COVER CENTER LH

18. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR COVER CENTER RH

19. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 FLOOR PANEL BRACE Removal

20. REMOVE FRONT CENTER FLOOR BRACE Removal

21. DISCONNECT HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for Bank 1 Sensor 2) Removal

22. DISCONNECT HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for Bank 2 Sensor 2) Removal

23. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY Removal

24. REMOVE STEERING SLIDING YOKE SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

25. REMOVE GENERATOR ASSEMBLY Removal

26. REMOVE ENGINE OIL LEVEL DIPSTICK GUIDE Removal

27. REMOVE NO. 1 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR

28. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

29. REMOVE AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR (for Bank 2 Sensor 1) Removal

30. DISCONNECT COMPRESSOR AND PULLEY Removal

31. REMOVE NO. 2 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR

32. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

33. REMOVE AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR (for Bank 2 Sensor 2) Removal

34. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR NO. 1 HEAT INSULATOR Removal

35. REMOVE AIR GUIDE PLATE OUTSIDE RH Removal

36. REMOVE REAR PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY Removal

37. DRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID
(a) Remove the drain plug and gasket, and drain the ATF.
(b) Install a new gasket and the drain plug.
Torque: 20 Nm (204 kgf-cm, 15 ft-lbf)
38. REMOVE NO. 3 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR

39. REMOVE STARTER ASSEMBLY Removal

40. DISCONNECT FLOOR SHIFT GEAR SHIFTING ROD SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the nut and disconnect the gear shifting rod.
41. DISCONNECT OIL COOLER TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the bolt and disconnect the bracket.

(b) Remove the bolt and disconnect the bracket.
(c) Remove the 2 clips and disconnect the oil cooler tube sub-assembly.
42. DISCONNECT WIRE HARNESS

(a) Remove the bolt and disconnect the ground wire.
43. REMOVE FLYWHEEL HOUSING SIDE COVER

(a) Remove the flywheel housing side cover.
44. REMOVE DRIVE PLATE AND TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH SETTING BOLT
(a) Turn the crankshaft to gain access to each bolt.

(b) While holding the crankshaft pulley nut with a wrench, remove the 6 bolts.
45. SUPPORT AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY

(a) Support the automatic transmission with a transmission jack.
46. REMOVE ENGINE REAR MOUNTING MEMBER

(a) Remove the 4 bolts and disconnect the mounting member.

(b) Remove the 4 nuts and mounting member.
47. DISCONNECT WIRE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR

(a) Tilt the automatic transmission downward.
NOTICE:
Take care not to allow the rear side of the engine assembly to come into contact with the body.

(b) Disconnect the park/neutral position switch connector.

(d) Disconnect the transmission wire connector.
HINT:
Detach the claw, press down the lever, and then disconnect the transmission wire connector.

(e) Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the wire harness clamp.
48. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 10 bolts.
(b) Separate and remove the automatic transmission.
49. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE REAR MOUNTING INSULATOR

(a) Remove the 4 bolts and engine mounting insulator.

50. REMOVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SHAFT LEVER RH
(a) Remove the nut and transmission control shaft lever with gear shifting rod.
51. REMOVE TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH ASSEMBLY

(a) Put matchmarks on the transmission case and torque converter clutch.
(b) Remove the torque converter clutch from the automatic transmission.
