Removal









PROPELLER SHAFT: REAR PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY (for 2WD): REMOVAL

1. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER (for 2GR-FSE) Removal

2. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR COVER CENTER LH (for 1UR-FSE)

3. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR COVER CENTER RH (for 1UR-FSE)

4. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 FLOOR PANEL BRACE (for 1UR-FSE) Removal

5. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR BRACE CENTER (for 2GR-FSE) Removal

6. REMOVE FRONT CENTER FLOOR BRACE (for 1UR-FSE) Removal

7. DISCONNECT HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for 2GR-FSE) Removal

8. DISCONNECT HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for 1UR-FSE)
for bank 1 sensor 2: Removal
for bank 2 sensor 2: Removal
9. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (for 2GR-FSE) Removal

10. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (for 1UR-FSE) Removal

11. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR NO. 1 HEAT INSULATOR






(a) Remove the 4 nuts, grommet and front floor No. 1 heat insulator.
12. REMOVE AIR GUIDE PLATE OUTSIDE RH






(a) Remove the 4 nuts and air guide plate outside RH.
13. REMOVE REAR PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY






(a) Using SST, loosen the adjusting nut until it can be turned by hand.
SST: 09922-10010
HINT:
Use 2 same type of SST.





(b) Put matchmarks on the transmission companion flange, flexible coupling and propeller intermediate shaft.
(c) Remove the 3 bolts, 3 washers and 3 nuts.
NOTICE:
The propeller intermediate shaft and flexible coupling should not be separated.





(d) Put matchmarks on the differential companion flange, flexible coupling and propeller shaft assembly.
(e) Remove the 3 bolts, 3 washers and 3 nuts.
NOTICE:
The propeller shaft assembly and flexible coupling should not be separated.





(f) Remove the 2 bolts and 2 center support bearing washers.
HINT:
Some vehicles are not equipped with the center support bearing washers.





(g) Push the propeller shaft assembly straight forward to compress the rear propeller shaft assembly and pull out the rear propeller shaft assembly from the centering pin of the differential.
NOTICE:
Press the propeller shaft assembly straight ahead to keep the transmission and propeller intermediate shaft aligned straight.
HINT:
If it is difficult to separate the flange from the flexible coupling, pry it using a screwdriver.

(h) Pull the propeller shaft outward from the vehicle's rear.
NOTICE:
The propeller intermediate shaft and propeller shaft assembly should not be separated.
