Removal And Installation




FRONT FINAL DRIVE ASSEMBLY

VQ37VHR : Removal and Installation


REMOVAL

1.Remove front cross bar. Removal And Installation.
2.Separate front propeller shaft from front final drive. Removal And Installation.
3.Remove front drive shaft. Front Drive Shaft Left Side (left side), Front Drive Shaft Right Side (right side).
4.Remove side shaft. Removal And Installation.
5.Separate the lower joint from the steering gear assembly. Removal And Installation (without 4WAS), Removal And Installation (with 4WAS)
6.Remove air duct (RH) and air cleaner case (RH). Removal And Installation.
7.Loosen the engine mounting insulator (RH) mounting nut (upper side) Exploded View.
8.Remove three way catalyst (bank 1). Removal And Installation.
9.Remove exhaust manifold (bank 1). Removal And Installation.
10.Remove stabilizer clamp. Removal And Installation.
11.Remove oil filter bracket. Removal And Installation.
12.Remove alternator. Removal And Installation.
13.Loosen transverse link (RH) mounting bolt (front side). Removal And Installation.
14.Set a suitable jack to engine assembly.
15.Remove breather tube and breather hose.
16.Remove engine mounting bracket (RH), engine mounting bracket (RH) (lower) and engine mounting insulator (RH) Removal And Installation.
17.Incline engine assembly.
18.Remove bracket of A/T fluid cooler tube. Removal And Installation.
19.Remove heat bracket. Exploded View.
20.Remove front final drive assembly.

INSTALLATION

Note the following, install in the reverse order of removal.
- When installing the side shaft, apply multi-purpose grease to contact surface of side shaft and side shaft oil seal.





- Tighten mounting bolts in the order described below when installing front final drive assembly: side of gear carrier (1), upper side of gear carrier (2), part of carrier cover (3).

CAUTION:
Align the mating faces of gear carrier and oil pan for installation.





- Install breather hose (1) and tube (2) as shown in the figure.

CAUTION:
Make sure there are no pinched or restricted areas on the breather hose caused by bending or winding when installing it.
- Make sure the paint mark facing up (black arrow).
- Securely install the hose until it seats the rounded portion of the tube. (black arrow) (front final drive assembly side).
- Securely install the hose until it to paint mark of the tube. (black arrow)
(vehicle rear side).
- Face the bend of the breather hose (white arrow) to the engine.
- When oil leaks while removing final drive assembly, check oil level after the installation. Inspection.
