Pinpoint Test C: The Boost Gauge Is Inoperative (Shelby GT 500 Only)

Normal Operation

The boost gauge measures the amount of engine boost provided by the supercharger in pounds per square inch. The Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) receives the boost gauge data from the PCM over the High Speed Controller Area Network (HS-CAN) communication bus. If the boost gauge status message is invalid or missing for more than 5 seconds, the boost gauge indication defaults to zero. DTC U0100:87 is set if the status message is missing. If the message is invalid or missing for less than 5 seconds, the boost gauge displays the last setting based upon the last valid data received. The missing or invalid data can make the gauge appear sluggish or unresponsive to engine boost changes.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- PCM
- IPC
