Pinpoint Test E: DTCs U1000:00, U3000:49
Body Control Module B (BCM-B)
Pinpoint Tests
Pinpoint Test E: DTCs U1000:00, U3000:49
Normal Operation
The Body Control Module B (BCM-B) controls the output of several vehicle systems by means of solid state drivers. When an overload occurs on any of these drivers, a DTC will be set. The module also tracks the number of repetitive faults on each of these circuits. The module compares this number of overloads to 3 progressive thresholds established for each circuit. If the 3 thresholds have not been exceeded, then the DTC of the affected circuit can be cleared by eliminating the fault, then clearing the DTCs and running the self-test. At the point that each of the first 2 thresholds are exceeded, DTC U1000:00 will be set along with the DTC relating to the affected circuit. Once the final threshold has been exceeded, the affected output is permanently disabled, and DTC U3000:49 will be set, at which time the BCM-B must be replaced.
- DTC U1000:00 (Solid State Driver Protection Actived -Driver Disabled: No Sub Type Information) - sets when the BCM-B has disabled a circuit due to a repetitive fault causing a circuit overload. A corresponding DTC for the circuit in question will also set.
- DTC U3000:49 (Control Module: Internal Electronic Failure) - sets when one or more output functions are permanently disabled due to a repetitive circuit overload fault. DTC U3000:49 will be set with DTC U1000:00. When DTC U3000:49 is present, a new BCM-B must be installed after the fault condition has been corrected.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Output circuit short to ground or voltage
- BCM-B
PINPOINT TEST E: DTCs U1000:00, U3000:49
NOTICE: If DTC U3000:49 is present and a new BCM-B is to be installed, the fault condition must be corrected first. Failure to correct the fault condition first may cause damage to the new BCM-B, resulting in a repeat repair.
-------------------------------------------------
E1 REVIEW THE DTCs
- Review the DTCs from the BCM-B self-test.
- Are only DTCs U1000:00 and U3000:49 present?
Yes
INSTALL a new BCM-B. REFER to Body Control Module B (BCM-B) Body Control Module B (BCM-B). TEST the system for normal operation.
No
CORRECT any DTCs present other than DTCs U1000:00 and U3000:49. REFER to DTC Charts. After the repair, GO to E2. Body Control Module B (BCM-B)
-------------------------------------------------
E2 CARRY OUT THE BCM-B SELF-TEST
- Carry out the BCM-B self-test.
- Is DTC U3000:49 present?
Yes
INSTALL a new BCM-B. REFER to Body Control Module B (BCM-B) Body Control Module B (BCM-B). TEST the system for normal operation.
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern was caused by a fault in one of the output circuits.
