Pinpoint Test AD: The Shift Indicator Is Never/Always On (Shelby GT 500 Only)
Normal Operation
The shift indicator is used to inform the driver of shift points that provide the highest fuel economy. The shift indicator is controlled by the Instrument Cluster (IC) based upon a shift message sent from the PCM over the High Speed Controller Area Network (HS-CAN) communication bus lines.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- PCM
- IC
PINPOINT TEST AD: THE SHIFT INDICATOR IS NEVER/ALWAYS ON (SHELBY GT 500 ONLY)

AD1 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM BOTH THE CONTINUOUS AND ON-DEMAND PCM SELF-TESTS
- Retrieve the recorded DTCs from the PCM continuous and on-demand self-tests.
- Are any DTCs retrieved?
Yes
REFER to Computers and Control Systems Information.
No
GO to AD2.

AD2 CARRY OUT THE IC INDICATOR LAMP CONTROL ACTIVE COMMAND
- Ignition ON.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: IC DataLogger.
- Select the IC all lamps (ALL_LAMP) active command while monitoring the up shift indicator.
- Does the shift indicator turn on when commanded on and turn off when commanded off?
Yes
INSTALL a new PCM. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
INSTALL a new IC. REFER to Instrument Cluster (IC) Instrument Cluster (IC). TEST the system for normal operation.
