Diagnostic Overview

The Adjustable Pedals are inoperative or Do Not Operate Correctly - Using the Memory SET Switch Buttons or the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) Transmitter

Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 127 for schematic and connector information Electrical Diagrams.

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

When the desired memory position is selected using the memory SET switch, the DSM (Driver Seat Module) communicates the desired pedal position in a message on the MS-CAN (Medium Speed Controller Area Network) to the BCM (Body Control Module). The BCM (Body Control Module) acts as a gateway module, relaying the message to the SCCM (Steering Column Control Module) over the HS-CAN (High Speed Controller Area Network). The SCCM (Steering Column Control Module) then sends current to the adjustable pedal motor to move the pedals to the required position.

When the vehicle is unlocked using the RKE (Remote Keyless Entry) feature, a message is sent from the TPM (Tire Pressure Monitor) module along a hard wired circuit to the RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module. The RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module then sends the message on the MS-CAN (Medium Speed Controller Area Network) to the BCM (Body Control Module). The BCM (Body Control Module) transmits the message on the HS-CAN (High Speed Controller Area Network) to the SCCM (Steering Column Control Module). The SCCM (Steering Column Control Module) sends current to the adjustable pedal motor to move the pedals to the position programmed to the key.

Pinpoint Test

1. CHECK THE ADJUSTABLE PEDAL OPERATION WITH THE ADJUSTABLE PEDAL SWITCH

1. Press the adjustable pedal switch in each direction for more than one second and observe the adjustable pedals.

Do the adjustable pedals operate for more than one second in the direction selected using the switch?

2. CHECK THE MEMORY SYSTEM OPERATION

1. Set a memory position for the driver seat, exterior mirrors and adjustable pedals to memory SET switch button 1. REFER to Memory Position Programming Programming and Relearning.

2. Select PARK.

3. Press the memory SET switch button 1 and observe:

- Driver seat
- Exterior mirrors
- Adjustable pedals

Do all 3 items move when the button is pressed?

3. CHECK THE RKE (Remote Keyless Entry) OPERATION

1. Set a memory position in the RKE (Remote Keyless Entry) for the driver seat, exterior mirrors and adjustable pedals. REFER to Remote Memory Activation Remote Memory Activation.

2. Select PARK.

3. Press the unlock button on the RKE (Remote Keyless Entry) transmitter/ IA (Intelligent Access) key and observe:

- Driver seat
- Exterior mirrors
- Adjustable pedals

Do all 3 items move when the button is pressed?

4. CHECK FOR DSM (Driver Seat Module) OR BCM (Body Control Module) DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes)

1. Ignition ON

2. Using a scan tool, perform DSM (Driver Seat Module) self-test.

3. Using a scan tool, perform BCM (Body Control Module) self-test.

4. Record any DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) retrieved from the DSM (Driver Seat Module) or the BCM (Body Control Module).

Was DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U0140 retrieved from the DSM (Driver Seat Module) or U0212:00 retrieved from the BCM (Body Control Module)?

5. CHECK THE ADJUSTABLE PEDAL MOTOR AND HALL-EFFECT SENSOR CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE

1. Ignition OFF.

2. Disconnect Adjustable Pedal Motor.

3. Disconnect SCCM (Steering Column Control Module) C2414C.

4. Disconnect SCCM (Steering Column Control Module) C2414B.

5. Ignition ON.

6. Measure:

Is any voltage present?

6. CHECK THE ADJUSTABLE PEDAL MOTOR AND HALL-EFFECT SENSOR CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND

1. Ignition OFF.

2. Measure:

Are the resistance values greater than 10,000 ohms?

7. CHECK THE ADJUSTABLE PEDAL MOTOR CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN

1. Measure:

Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?

8. CHECK THE ADJUSTABLE PEDAL MOTOR HALL-EFFECT SENSOR CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN

1. Measure:

Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?

9. CHECK THE ADJUSTABLE PEDAL MOTOR AND HALL-EFFECT SENSOR CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TOGETHER

1. Measure:

Are the resistance values greater than 10,000 ohms?
