Diagnostic Overview
The Memory Mirror Is Inoperative
Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 124 for schematic and connector information Electrical Diagrams.
Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
The accessory delay relay is located inside the BCM (Body Control Module) and supplies voltage to the master window control switch when the BCM (Body Control Module) energizes the relay by grounding the relay coil. The exterior mirror control switch is integral to the master window control switch and receives power whenever the master window control switch is powered by the accessory delay relay. REFER to Delayed Accessory Power . The exterior mirror control switch sends input signals to the DSM (Driver Seat Module) upon driver request for mirror operation.

DTC Fault Trigger Conditions
Visual Inspection and Diagnostic Pre-checks
- Inspect BCM (Body Control Module) fuses 7 (7.5A), 23 (30A) and 32 (15A).
- Inspect the exterior mirror control switch.
- Inspect the exterior mirror.
Pinpoint Test
1. RETRIEVE THE DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) FROM THE DSM (Driver Seat Module)
1. Ignition ON.
2. Using a scan tool, perform DSM (Driver Seat Module) self-test.
Are any DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) retrieved?
2. CHECK OPERATION OF THE MIRRORS FROM THE EXTERIOR MIRROR CONTROL SWITCH
1. Operate the mirrors using the exterior mirror control switch.
Does the LH (Left Hand) or RH (Right Hand) mirror operate using the exterior mirror control switch?
3. CHECK THE EXTERIOR MIRROR CONTROL SWITCH
NOTICE: The following step uses a test light to simulate normal circuit loads. Use only the test light recommended in the Special Tools table at the beginning. To avoid connector terminal damage, use the Flex Probe Kit for the test light probe connection to the vehicle. Do not use the test light probe directly on any connector.
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect: DSM (Driver Seat Module) C341D.
3. Select the LH (Left Hand) mirror on the exterior mirror control switch.
4. Ignition ON.
5. While selecting the right direction on the exterior mirror control switch, monitor:
Did the light illuminate?
4. CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE EXTERIOR MIRROR CONTROL SWITCH
1. Measure:
Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?
5. CHECK FOR GROUND TO THE EXTERIOR MIRROR CONTROL SWITCH
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Measure:
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
6. CHECK THE MIRROR SWITCH COMMON CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
1. Ignition ON.
2. Measure:
Is any voltage present?
7. CHECK THE MIRROR SWITCH COMMON CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Measure:
Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
8. CHECK THE MIRROR SWITCH COMMON CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
1. Measure:
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
9. CHECK THE EXTERIOR MIRROR SWITCH CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect: Exterior Mirror Control Switch.
3. Disconnect: DSM (Driver Seat Module) C341D.
4. Measure:
Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
10. CHECK THE LH (Left Hand) EXTERIOR MIRROR FOR VOLTAGE WHILE COMMANDING THE DSM (Driver Seat Module) PIDs (Parameter Identifications)
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect: LH (Left Hand) Exterior Mirror.
3. Ignition ON.
4. Using a scan tool, view DSM (Driver Seat Module) PIDs (Parameter Identifications).
5. If only DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) B1667 is set, while toggling the DSM (Driver Seat Module) PID (Parameter Identification) Driver's Mirror Up (DR_UP) to On, measure:
6. If only DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) B1668 is set, while toggling the DSM (Driver Seat Module) PID (Parameter Identification) Driver's Mirror Right (DR_RIGHT) to On, measure:
7. If both DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) B1667 and B1668 are set, while toggling the DSM (Driver Seat Module) PID (Parameter Identification) Driver's Mirror Down (DR_DOWN) to On, measure:
Does the voltage momentarily change from 0 volts to greater than 11 volts when the active command is toggled ON?
11. CHECK THE LH (Left Hand) EXTERIOR MIRROR CONTROL OUTPUT CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect: DSM (Driver Seat Module) C341D.
3. If only DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) B1667 is set, measure:
4. If only DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) B1668 is set, measure:
5. If both DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) B1667 and B1668 are set, measure:
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
12. CHECK THE RH (Right Hand) EXTERIOR MIRROR FOR VOLTAGE WHILE COMMANDING THE DSM (Driver Seat Module) PIDs (Parameter Identifications)
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect: RH (Right Hand) Exterior Mirror.
3. Ignition ON.
4. Using a scan tool, view DSM (Driver Seat Module) PIDs (Parameter Identifications).
5. If only DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) B1669 is set, while toggling the DSM (Driver Seat Module) PID (Parameter Identification) Passenger's Mirror Up (PR_UP) to On, measure:
6. If only DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) B1670 is set, while toggling the DSM (Driver Seat Module) PID (Parameter Identification) Passenger's Mirror Right (PR_RIGHT) to On, measure:
7. If both DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) B1669 and B1670 are set, while toggling the DSM (Driver Seat Module) PID (Parameter Identification) Passenger's Mirror Left (PR_LEFT) to On, measure:
Does the voltage momentarily change from 0 volts to greater than 11 volts when the active command is toggled ON?
13. CHECK THE RH (Right Hand) EXTERIOR MIRROR CONTROL OUTPUT CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect: DSM (Driver Seat Module) C341D.
3. If only DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) B1669 is set, measure:
4. If only DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) B1670 is set, measure:
5. If both DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) B1669 and B1670 are set, measure:
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
14. CHECK THE EXTERIOR MIRROR CONTROL SWITCH
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect: Exterior Mirror Control Switch.
3. Ignition ON.
4. Using a scan tool, clear the DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) and perform DSM (Driver Seat Module) self-test.
Did DSM (Driver Seat Module) DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) B1733, B1737, B1741 or B1745 return?
15. CHECK THE MIRROR CONTROL CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect: DSM (Driver Seat Module) C341D.
3. Ignition ON.
4. Measure:
Is any voltage present?
16. CHECK THE EXTERIOR MIRROR SWITCH CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Measure:
Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
17. CHECK THE LH (Left Hand) EXTERIOR MIRROR CONTROL OUTPUT CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect: LH (Left Hand) Exterior Mirror.
3. Disconnect: DSM (Driver Seat Module) C341D.
4. Ignition ON.
5. Measure:
Are any voltages present?
18. CHECK THE LH (Left Hand) EXTERIOR MIRROR CONTROL OUTPUT CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Measure:
Are the resistances greater than 10,000 ohms?
19. CHECK THE RH (Right Hand) EXTERIOR MIRROR CONTROL OUTPUT CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect: RH (Right Hand) Exterior Mirror.
3. Disconnect: DSM (Driver Seat Module) C341D.
4. Ignition ON.
5. Measure:
Are any voltages present?
20. CHECK THE RH (Right Hand) EXTERIOR MIRROR CONTROL OUTPUT CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Measure:
Are the resistances greater than 10,000 ohms?
21. CHECK THE MIRROR POSITION SENSOR CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect: DSM (Driver Seat Module) C341D.
3. Disconnect: RH (Right Hand) Exterior Mirror.
4. Disconnect: LH (Left Hand) Exterior Mirror.
5. For DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) B2312 or B2316, measure:
6. For DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) B2320 or B2324, measure:
Are the resistances greater than 10,000 ohms?
22. CHECK THE MIRROR POSITION SENSOR CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
1. For DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) B2312 or B2316, measure:
2. For DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) B2320 or B2324, measure:
Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
23. CHECK THE MIRROR POSITION SENSOR FEED AND RETURN FROM THE DSM (Driver Seat Module)
1. Connect: DSM (Driver Seat Module) C341D.
2. Ignition ON.
3. For DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) B2312 or B2316, measure:
4. For DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) B2320 or B2324, measure:
Is the voltage approximately 5 volts?
24. CHECK THE EXTERIOR MIRROR POSITION SENSOR CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect: DSM (Driver Seat Module) C341D.
3. Disconnect: RH (Right Hand) Exterior Mirror.
4. Disconnect: LH (Left Hand) Exterior Mirror.
5. Ignition ON.
6. For DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) B2314 or B2318, measure:
7. For DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) B2322 or B2326, measure:
Are any voltages present?
25. CHECK THE EXTERIOR MIRROR
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Connect: DSM (Driver Seat Module) C341D.
3. Ignition ON.
4. Using a scan tool, clear the DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) and perform DSM (Driver Seat Module) self-test.
Did DSM (Driver Seat Module) DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) B2223 or B2224 return?
26. CHECK THE DSM (Driver Seat Module) FOR CORRECT OPERATION
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect and inspect all DSM (Driver Seat Module) connectors.
3. Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals- clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins- install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins- install new pins as necessary
4. Reconnect the DSM (Driver Seat Module) connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
5. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
