If there is a problem with the operation of the DRBII, the screen will display a blank screen, a CCD bus failure message, or any of the following error messages:
NO RESPONSE
KEYPAD TEST FAILURE
RAM TEST FAILURE
HIGH BATTERY
CARTRIDGE ERROR
LOW BATTERY
If this happens, refer to Test 3A for diagnosis and repair procedures. Diagnostic Test Procedures
NOTE: Problems with the operation of the DRBII must be corrected before proceeding with fault diagnosis testing.
HOW TO USE THE DRBII KEYS
To reach HELP on the DRBII, press and hold [F3] at any time.
� To move forward or backward one item at a time within a menu, press the up arrow or down arrow key.
� To select an item, press the item number, or move the arrows to the desired item and press ENTER.
� To return to the previous display, press ATM.
� To monitor one item of a multiple-item display, move the arrows to the desired item and press ENTER.
� To freeze a variable display item, press READ/HOLD. To unfreeze the item, press READ/HOLD again.
� To restart the DRBII, hold MODE and press ATM at the same time.
HOW TO REACH THE ELC-4A/T MENU
In order to perform the diagnostic tests in this section, you must operate the DRBII to reach the ELC-4A/T MENU level within the TRANSMISSION diagnostic program. At the ELC-4A/T MENU, you can:
- read fault codes
- state display
- perform actuator tests
The instructions below tell you how to reach the ELC-4A/T MENU.
If you already know how to reach the ELC-4A/T MENU, see "How to Select a DRBII Test Function" found later in this HELP 1 for instructions on how to select a DRBII test function. Help 1, Operation of the DRBII For Diagnostic Testing
A. Connect the DRBII to the 8-way din connector on the MMC adapter.
B. Connect the MMC adapter to the diagnostic connector and battery positive.
C. Turn the vehicle's ignition switch to the "RUN" position.
NOTE: Do not touch the keypad during the DRBII power-up sequence or an error will result.
D. The copyright date and diagnostics program version number will be displayed briefly similar to the following:

E. After a few seconds, the display will change to read as follows (or press ENTER to change the display immediately):

F. After a few seconds, the display will change to read as follows (or press ENTER to change the display immediately):

G. Select 2. TRANSMISSION to enter the transmission system part of the DRBII test program. The display will change to read as follows:

ECU ID: XXXX
H. Select ENTER to change the display to the ELC-4A/T menu. The display will change to read as follow:

1. SYSTEM TESTS
2. READ FAULTS
3. STATE DISPLAY
4. ACTUATOR TESTS
5. ADJUSTMENTS
At this point, you have reached the ELC-4A/T MENU of the TRANSMISSION diagnostic program. Now you can select any of the specific test functions that have been programmed into the DRBII cartridge.
HOW TO READ FAULT MESSAGES WITH THE DRBII
To read fault messages:
When the ELC-4A/T MENU screen is displayed, select 2. READ FAULTS.
- If there are no fault messages, the display will read as follows:
ELC-4A/T FAULTS
NO FAULTS
DETECTED
- If there are fault messages, the display will read as follows:
1 OF 3 FAULTS

appear here]
NOTE: The exact numbers displayed will vary depending on how many faults there are and how many starts there have been.
To read more than one fault message, press the down arrow to display the next message. To erase all fault messages disconnect the negative battery cable.
This display will remain until ATM is pressed. After ATM is pressed, the display will return to the ELC-4A/T MENU screen.
