Spot Lamp: Adjustments
ADJUSTMENTS
OUTER TUBE NOTCH ORIENTATION AND PARKING POSITION
The following steps are used to set up the spot lamp outer tube notch (2) orientation and parking position. This adjusts the position of the handle grip and the clearance between the handle grip and the vehicle interior components.
1. Loosen the outer tube set screw (12) in the head housing (14).
2. Use the key of the handle housing (7) engaged in the outer tube notch to rotate the outer tube as required to achieve the following conditions:
- The handle grip (10) points to approximately the 9 o'clock position for the left-hand spot lamp, or the 3 o'clock position for the right-hand spot lamp with handle housing key contacting one side of the outer tube notch.
- The handle housing can be rotated counterclockwise for left-hand lamp or clockwise for right-hand lamp away from the contacted notch side without outer tube being rotated.
- There is sufficient space (about 2.54 centimeters or 1 inch) between the handle grip and the vehicle to allow the handle grip to be rotated.
3. Remove the handle assembly from the spot lamp.
4. Tighten the outer tube set screw to 7.3 Nm (65 in. lbs.).
SPOT LAMP HEAD PARKING POSITION
The following steps are used to set up the spot lamp head (1) parking position. This adjusts the clearance between the spot lamp head and the vehicle exterior components.
INTERMEDIATE TUBE HAS A FLAT
1. If the spot lamp intermediate tube (3) has a flat on one side, the head parking position is set by aligning the flat on the wedge (5) with the flat on the intermediate tube during handle installation.
INTERMEDIATE TUBE HAS NO FLAT
1. If the spot lamp intermediate tube (3) has no flat on one side, rotate the spot lamp head towards the windshield, leaving about 2.54 centimeters (1 inch) between the outermost edge of the spot lamp and the exterior vehicle components.
2. Tighten the set screw (12) enough to maintain the spot lamp in this position during handle installation.
3. Install the spot lamp handle assembly. Spot Lamp - Installation.
4. Adjust the set screws (12 and 13) to achieve the proper tension to maintain spot lamp position while driving, but allow free movement using the handle without excessive component wear. The up-and-down swing tension of the spot lamp is controlled by set screw nearest to the A-pillar. The 360 degree rotation tension of the spot lamp us controlled by the set screw furthest from the A-pillar.
