Instrument Panel Pad - Removal
REMOVAL - 200C
Special Tools:
LOWER PAD
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Partially remove the weatherstrip along the front door opening.
3. Using trim stick or equivalent, disengage clips holding the end cap (1) to the instrument panel and remove the end cap. Repeat for the opposite side.
4. Using trim stick or equivalent, remove and disconnect the center stack bezel (1).
5. Remove the floor console, Center Console - Removal.
6. Remove the glove box assembly (1), Instrument Panel Glove Box - Removal.
7. Remove the lower steering column opening trim panel (2), Steering Column Opening Cover - Removal.
8. Remove the outlet vents (1) on the driver and passenger sides, Air Outlet - Removal.
9. Remove the instrument cluster trim bezel (1), Instrument Cluster Bezel - Removal.
10. Remove the instrument cluster, Instrument Cluster - Removal.
11. Using a small pry tool, remove the ignition trim ring.
12. Remove the two fasteners (1) securing the lower pad to the I/P located above the center stack cavity.
13. Remove the two fasteners (1, 2) securing the lower pad to the I/P located on the passenger side.
14. Using trim stick or equivalent and working across from the passenger to driver side, disengage the lower retaining clips securing the lower I/P pad (1) to the base instrument panel.
15. Pull the lower I/P pad (1) rearward to disengage the remaining retaining clips and remove.
16. Remove the two fasteners (2) below the vent and trunk release switch securing the LH lower trim panel to the base instrument panel.
17. Remove and disconnect the trunk release switch (1).
18. Grasp the LH lower trim panel near the defroster duct and pull rearward to disengage the retaining clips to remove.
UPPER PAD
1. Remove the lower I/P pad from the vehicle.
2. Remove the A-pillar trim, A-Pillar Trim Panel - Removal.
3. Remove the defroster grille, Defroster Grille - Removal.
4. Remove the upper fasteners (1) located across the top of the upper I/P pad.
5. Remove the two fasteners (1) located under the instrument cluster bezel securing the top pad to the base panel.
6. Looking in from the glove box cavity, disconnect the PAB squib connectors and remove the nuts securing the PAB to the I/P structure, Passenger Air Bag - Removal.
7. Remove the fasteners (2) securing the upper I/P pad to the base panel.
8. Grasp the upper I/P pad (1) up near the defroster duct, pull up and rearward to disengage the retaining clips.
CAUTION: The Instrument Panel Top pad may be hard to unsnap from the instrument panel. Be sure not to mar, scuff, or damage the instrument panel pad.
9. Remove the upper I/P pad (1) from the vehicle.
10. If necessary, separate the PAB from the upper I/P pad (1), Passenger Air Bag - Removal.
