Steering Column - Installation
INSTALLATION
1. Place steering column (4) over mounting studs (3) and install four nuts (5, 6) fastening column to column mounting bracket (2). Tighten nuts to 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.).
2. Connect steering column coupling to intermediate shaft. To do so:
a. Match intermediate shaft (1) to coupling pinch loop.
b. Install coupling pinch bolt (8). Tighten to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.).
c. Install hair pin (7) through end of pinch bolt.
3. Slide multi-function switch mounting housing (3) onto column and install mounting screw (2). Tighten screw to 1.9 Nm (17 in. lbs.).
4. Install column wiring harness routing clip (2) into left side of column.
5. Install lower (6) and upper (3) shrouds around steering column (1):
a. Snap shrouds together at locking tab locations on both sides.
b. Install center mounting screw securing lower shroud to column. Tighten screw to 2 Nm (18 in. lbs.).
c. Install two outer mounting screws (7) securing lower shroud to upper shroud. Tighten screws to 2 Nm (18 in. lbs.).
d. Inspect shroud mating surfaces for excessive gaps and adjust as necessary.
6. Install knee blocker airbag and all components necessary to access. Knee Blocker Airbag - Removal
7. Match splines on steering wheel hub with that on steering shaft, then slide steering wheel (3) onto column shaft.
